How to lose weight being a vegetarian and a teen?!

Question: How to lose weight being a vegetarian and a teen?
I'm 14 years old 5'1'' and 145 pounds. I'm trying to find ways to lose weight being a vegetarian. Almost everything I look at ( what your supposed to eat, recipes etc.) says to eat meat/fish at least once a day for protein to help you lose weight. Can someone please give me things to eat everyday being a vegetarian and exercises to do to help me lose weight?

It sounds strange, but some people have reported that they lost more weight when they drank black coffee before a workout. While there’s no hard data to support this, nutritionists speculate that the caffeine in coffee makes the body rely more on fat for fuel during the work out. It’s worth trying!

I'm nearly identical to you. I'm 15, 5'4'', and 140.
Honestly going vegetarian doesn't guarantee weight-loss unless you really pay attention to your calorie and nutrient intake. Vegetarians tend to actually GAIN weight when they first start out because they resort to eating processed foods and carbs. Potato chips, mashed potatoes, white bread, cookies, soda, and most candies are all vegetarian.
When I went vegetarian I gained about 10 pounds, then after I started paying attention to the foods I ate I lost about 15. In order to lose weight as a vegetarian, you have to replace your meats properly. When I went vegetarian at first I just eliminated my meats. When my mom made steak, mashed potatoes and corn for dinner, I just ate potatoes and corn.
Morning Star and Boca products are good for starters. They are basically fake meat, made from vegetables and soy products. But I wouldn't eat these excessively, since they are loaded with processed ingredients. You really, really have to make sure you're eating a variety of vegetables and fruits. Before it wasn't AS important since you obtain many nutrients from meat. But now you MUST make sure you aim for at least 6-8 fruits/vegetables a day.
As long as you're conscious about what you're eating and don't resort to cupcakes and potato chips, you definitely could lose weight on a healthy vegetarian diet.

I'm glad you going about this in a healthy way. Being a vegetarian will make you lose weight almost immediately. Most kids your age are eating sugary crap and dead animals. You do NOT need to eat cooked dead animals to lose weight. You can get your protein in a lot of other foods - nuts, grains, vegetables, supplements. Good luck to you.

If you have a sitting job, stand up and stretch yourself every half an hour. Most of the jobs today are indeed sitting jobs that are in one word sedentary. This is especially true for those who sit and punch away at the keyboard or toy with the mouse all day long. So if you have such a job, make it a point to get up at least every half an hour and stretch your self.

stay away from processed foods.
If eating things like pasta go for a tomato based sauce not a cream sauce.
Nuts, soy, beans, and lentils are great.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables (at least 5-6 servings daily).
Eat or drink 3 servings of milk or milk substitute daily.
Take a multivitamin.
Drink plenty of water and become or stay active.
You also may want to consult your doctor.

Smoking is bad for weight loss. Smoking as such may not contribute to weight loss but smoking leads to other conditions like erratic eating habits and excessive dependence on things like coffee. Teach loved ones that smoke these weight loss tips and maybe they will stop too.

Try to eat complete proteins. Black beans and rice with melted cheese on top is good. Also try different tofu recipes. Eggs are also good. You can by a vegetarian **** book with good ideas.
