If you eat a sandwich on the way round the supermarket, is that still classed as theft?!

Question: If you eat a sandwich on the way round the supermarket, is that still classed as theft?
Answers:

Did you do a poo before you left ?

If so, you havnt taken the Sandwich from the supermarket, you've just reformed it and left it elsewhere.

They won't have a leg to stand on.

Lol.xxx

You mean if you bought it within the supermarket, and you ate it before you paid? Sounds like me:D And from my experiences, such things are alright but you MUST pay. If you don't pay then it's theft. Proof that what I'm saying is right? I haven't been caught before. I was eating a pack of chips at the counter. Lady just smiled, checked the bar code and I paid. So it isn't considered as theft as long as you pay for it rightfully in the end. However, I suggest that you don't do it often unless you're desperate. Such actions aren't really the most polite:)

Did it more than one b4. Didn't get arrested though I walked up to the counter lady eating a bag of chipsXDD

If you eat something at a restaurant and then don't pay your bill before you leave, is that theft? Of course it is! Just because you've already eaten something by the time you get to the till doesn't mean you don't have to pay for it, and supermarkets are full of security cameras so don't expect to always get away with it! Supermarkets are big companies but they still need to make money and stealing from them will just force them to increase prices for the rest of us.

It is not yours until you have paid for it! So yes it IS theft.
If someone lets you pay for it afterwards consider yourself being done a favour. They are technically condoning a criminal act, but are being benevolent in excusing your ignorance of the law.

Been in management. Also studied law.

Not if you pay for it.

I once took an ibuprofen from a bottle in a drug store before I paid for it, but I did go to the checkout and pay. That may have been a strange thing to to, but I was having a migraine right that second and I just couldn't wait. I got some funny looks but nobody called the cops.

I believe it is because you may not have the means to pay for the sandwich when you arrive at the till. Personally, I eat it and take the consequences

It's easy, really. If you ain't bought it, then it ain't yours, so scoffing it is theft. Technically. Asking if it's ok is the polite & sensible thing to do.

yes its theft if you dont pay..but if they dont notice youre good! ive done that before with those big deli pickles, as well as with candy bars

my own experience

Yes, I have worked in supermarkets when I was younger and they called it "Grazing"....while it is considered shoplifting most offenders were just told to leave immediately and never come back.

No, My dad and I will walk around our grocery store and open a bag of chips before we buy them. We even asked the employees if we could.
They said as long as you pay for it

If you don't pay for it then yes.If you do pay for it then no

Keep the wrapper and pay on the way out then no theft.
No payment = theft.

As long as you pay for it before you leave the store then no it's not theft.

If the sandwich is bought at the store then no but if you bring it in idk.

did you pay for it?

this is some kind of hard question???

you may be able to use this question as a defense that you are mentally incompetent....

as long as you pay for the item its OK but if not it is classed as theft by consumption

They call it browsing don't they? However I think it is wrong. You eat it you pay for it.

no as long as you pay for it at the checkout using the empty container

you have to leave the store for it to be theft, but if u pay at the end then its ok

you have to leave the store without paying to be theft

If you pay for it No.
If not YES !

if you dont pay for it yes
