Can vegetarians eat coral?!

Question: Can vegetarians eat coral?
I know it's technically an animal and everything, but I mean it's not really, is it? It's sort of one of those crappy things stuck between a plant and an animal, I doubt it has emotions or anything y'know? So basically... if you're a vegetarian who doesn't eat meat or fish or anything (not religious reasons, just morals), can you eat coral? They eat it in the Philippines and places like that.

Answers:

Hmmm! Good question! I'm a vegetarian, and I'm not even sure if we (vegetarians) would. Not to be rude, but, in my mind, an animal has to be able to move, think, breath, etc. So, when I think "animal," coral doesn't come to mind. That doesn't mean I would EAT it, nor does it mean that I don't consider it a "real animal," it just means I'm unsure whether vegetarians (in general) would consume it. Luckily, I've never (and don't see myself ever) been faced with a situation where someone has asked me if I'd like to eat some coral. =P

vegetarians don't eat any animal whatever it is
