There is a faux or sudo egg white trick, you take 1 cup of ground flax seeds, and cook them in water for 10 minutes at the simmer, let sit for 1 hour, then strain off the liquid, this can be used in place of egg whites in baking and adding a small amount of water and a few drops of cooking oil and blending will make a wash for pastry's that will shine, melted margarine or butter will do the same, but are sometimes not acceptable to vegans and some vegetarians on foods, if you can find a margarine in Singapore with no dairy then use it.
