What are some great fast vegetarian breakfast ideas?!

Question: What are some great fast vegetarian breakfast ideas?
I'm a 17 year old female that weighs 175 pounds. I'm 6 feet tall and moderately active. I'm training for the NROTC and I want to look and feel fantastic. I'm a vegetarian that is looking for healthy recipes that are fast. I'm pretty busy especially in the morning so I'd appreciate ideas for breakfast, I usually don't eat breakfast. I just got a membership to a nearby gym so fitness ideas would be great also! Thanks so much! I'm trying to lose 25 pounds in two and a half months so please help!

Hi, eating breakfast is important so if you can get into the habit of doing it that would be great.

Quick vegetarian options include:

Wholegrain toast with peanut butter
Muesli with fruit and seeds
Porridge (Actually only takes about 3 minutes in the microwave)
Wholegrain cereal with chopped banana

Toast is probably your quickest option, and has the advantage that you can actually eat it at the same time as you're getting ready, although any of the above are fairly speedy to make.

Whole grain toast/english muffins with peanut butter, fruit and yogurt, oatmeal. Egg white omelets with vegetables are very yummy and if you cook the vegetables the night before, that will save you a lot of time since omelets don't take long to make. Kudos for wanting to live more healthy! Good luck!

breakfasts the most important food of the day you need it to get your body wide awake so since your a vegetarian and they can have grain then how about cereal, pancakes, breakfast veggie rap,

you should always do jogging it looses Weight

A piece of fruit is good. I'm not much of a breakfast eater, but it is an important meal to get your body awake and functioning again. I'll usually eat a piece of fruit. An apple or banana is easy and quick to eat.

Tangerine, orange, banana, pear, mango, any of that good stuff.

Hi, I used to be a vegetarian but I have trouble absorbing non-heme iron (long story) so am eating meat again unfortunately.

I can give you some vegetarian breakfast ideas- some seem high in calories but are healthy so if you make the portions less, that's great. Remember, all things in moderation.

You can make an egg white omelet (leave the yolks out) and put a low fat cheese and vegetables like mushrooms inside. Top with low fat/calorie sour cream and fresh salsa and guacamole (fresh avocados are very good for you!)

Try granola or kashi cereal with berries (blueberries, etc) with almond milk, soy milk or skim milk.

You could make yourself a breakfast wrap- use whole wheat wraps (tortillas) and put some grilled, mushrooms inside with lettuce, onions and any dressing (vegetarian) you prefer... very good.

Have cucumber or tomato toast or a tomato melt sandwich. Choose whole grain bread over white flour for added fibre.

If you have a blender you could make a really healthy smoothy- add some skim milk or soya milk, frozen berries, yogurt and some protein powder or greens plus (greens plus is full of nutrients and great for digestion). Look online for lots of healthy smoothy ideas.

Small protein bars are easy, too.

Basically eat anything you want that's vegetarian for breakfast- just because it's the first meal of the day doesn't mean you have to eat cereal, etc... try salads with grilled tofu or mushrooms or small avocado chunks, vegetarian stews, vegetarian curry on rice, vegetarian burritos are great..

Trail mix or small little meals of oily nuts like walnuts and almonds are good for the brain, as are blueberries, yogurt, and cottage cheese helps some people loose weight. Make sure you know what a portion is, and read the sides of packages for the fat content and caloric information. Consider keeping a food diary of what you are eating, how much (you can even buy a kitchen scale to measure) and stop eating before you are small.

Eat SMALL meals more often to keep your blood sugar from peaking and then crashing, eat slowly so your brain has time to know, don't buy food when you are hungry and drink lots of water (not only can water help with weight loss, but many people feel "hungry" when they are actually dehydrated).

Instead of juices or soda or other drinks, drink water. Save juices and other drinks for treats.

A lot of food that is toted as "health" food is a gimmick. Usually the simpler the meal, the better. Try eating raw foods (fresh vegetables and salads and fresh fruits)... if you cook vegetables, etc poach or steam. Be sure to eat a lot of high fibre foods. Remember that weight loss that is productive is slow (you don't want to lose a lot of weight quickly as you usually gain it back). Excess stress and not getting enough sleep, as well as certain medications, can also increase weight actually. Not eating enough (or not getting enough calories) can be as bad as getting too many as your body will go into starvation mode and start storing everything as "fat".

If you really love soda pop, try to drink the diet stuff (even though aspartame isn't good for you, either) or the stuff that is sweetened with splenda and not straight sugar- white sugar is horrible for weight gain! Don't eradicate ALL carbs (you need some) but be careful of white flour, white sugar, etc... oatmeal is technically a carb but will keep you feeling fuller longer. You might also like to try "cream of wheat" or "Sunnyboy" cereal (if you have sunny boy where you live).

One day at a time, but especially keep a food journal, at least until you get into the habit of eating less, stopping before you are full (you don't want to have hunger pangs but you should still feel like you could "eat more") and drink more water. Some people also claim that colon cleanses help them to lose weight. Consider taking a daily vitamin, too, and take vitamin C or eat oranges or other vit C rich foods with iron-rich foods for your health (blackstrap mollasses contains a lot of iron!)

Good luck!
