I need some help ASAP!?!

Question: I need some help ASAP!?
I was recently diagnosed with a milk allergy and I need some help fast.

I already went and bought silk vanilla for my cereal, and the chocolate one for drinking. But I bought this soy cheese called Veggie Slices, and their gross - I threw away my sandwich and right now I have no yogurt to eat. I need some ideas for cheese and yogurt fast, or I might starve!

Answers:

Brenn...Your so funny...I eat Veggie slices all the time with lots of mustard. Everything taste good with Mustard. There are all kind of flavors and I think cheddar is the Best. You put enough goodies on your Sandwich and you can make it really good. We drink Rice Organic original Milk. Took me a long time to adjust but I like it very much. We drink Chocolate Soy and I use to drink the Vanilla but have switched to the Rice. The rice taste like fat free milk---sort of. There is a place at your grocery store that carries Morning Star veggie patties...at least in Calif. there is. Any way, these make great sandwiched. It is not so bad not to consume milk things...just substitute anything but cow stuff. Eat lots of Salads and veggies, fruit smoothies are a great replace for Milk and taste better. Fills you up in the morning. As far as Ice cream...after ac-couple of years being really good and not eating Milk things, you can splurge on a cone. I have Milk allergies too but I treat myself ac-couple of times a year. There is so much to eat out there, you will not miss it. Make lots of fruit drinks.....keeps you looking beautiful. Oh---there is also cashew milk...expensive though---only for the rich. Don't Fret, you will be fine after a while. Takes alittle use to getting to but a piece of cake when you get it.As for coffee, I fill my cup with Chocolate Soy/water and a tsp. of low acid Kava instant coffee. Don't compare to Star Bucks though. Love to you in Christ, always a new adventure out there...missleslie

lifes Experiences---Omella, is right, I forgot to tell you to go to Health Stores, they have everything thats yummy.

There is, unfortunately, no good replacement for cheese. However, you'll get used to not eating it in about two weeks or so. Did you know cheese is addictive? When cows (or any mammal) nurses, they produce a bonding hormone so that their babies keep coming back for more milk. For some reason (something to do with the process of making it), this addictive bonding hormone is stronger in cheese.

Anyway, if you go to a big super grocery store (Walhell won't carry this, I'm almost sure), you can find some soy yogurt on the yogurt aisle. You could prolly even find soy ice cream. It's good!

First of all, if you have a milk allergy instead of being lactose intolerant, be wary of Veggie Slices. Their soy cheese contains casein, which is a milk protein. I've yet to find any really good vegan cheese. Nutritional yeast works well in recipes and in place of parmesan sprinkles, but it won't make an ooey, gooey pizza or grilled cheese sandwich. There are several recipes for homemade vegan cheese that sound great, though I've yet to try any. Here's one "sharp cheddar" recipe with pretty good reviews: http://www.food.com/recipe/vegan-sharp-c… And here's the cookbook from whence it came: http://www.amazon.com/Uncheese-Cookbook-…

My two favorite vegan yogurts are these:

http://www.turtlemountain.com/
The first link is more yogurt-like and I absolutely love it. Turtle Mountains yogurt is pretty good, but it's too sweet for my tastes. Be sure to try their coconut milk ice cream though. It is legitimately a thousand times better than dairy ice cream. It's so addicting, and it comes in awesome flavors. Dang, I really want some now!

Personally, I like soy milk well enough, but I prefer West Soy to Silk. It's so much better for you. However, rice and almond milks taste loads better. There are other nut milks, as well as hemp and oat milks. I haven't tried any, but I've heard some good things. Coconut milk is great for making desserts. If you ever miss whipped cream, coconut milk try this recipe: http://www.everydaydish.tv/index.php?pag…

Oh, and when you miss pizza and don't have time for homemade, go for Amy's. It's not ooey gooey, but it's delicious. http://amys.com/products/search_results.…

I've heard Daiya cheese is pretty good, but it's only available at health food stores.
If you like Silk soy milk, you'll probably like their yogurt. It's nearly identical.
Other than that, cutting down on your cheese and yogurt intake won't kill you. A lot of those fake dairy products are stuffed with unusual and processed ingredients, so try not to eat them excessively.

Most people with cow's milk allergies are not allergic to goat or sheep's milk.
Goats milk for drinking is easily available( Coach Farms one of the bigger producers) and goats cheeses are extremely popular.
Sheep's milk cheeses are delicious and easy to get also( not for drinking).
there are also sheep milk yogurts( although hard to find).
Did the doctor specify all milk or cows milk?

daiya cheese is good. silk yogurt and whole soy yogurt are good if they are vanilla or with fruit
