You're really on the wrong forum to answer this question. Of course, vegetarians and vegans are going to be more comfortable discussing the arguments against eating meat. Try the Hunting section, and we can help you out.

For example, hunters tend to point out that all life in some form or another feeds on death, and all life at its end nourishes more life. Predation is simply part of this natural cycle, and the human species has been playing a role as omnivores (eaters of both meat and plants) longer than we have been human. Our nearest living relatives, the chimpanzees, hunt and eat meat. Our pre-human ancestors hunted and ate meat. The earliest humans we know of hunted and ate meat. It is as natural for us to eat meat as it is for tigers or wolves, and for us to hunt is no less moral than for tigers or wolves.

Because we evolved as omnivores, our bodies naturally make use of both plant products and animal products, and it is easier to build a healthy, balanced diet if you have some of each. A cow can be healthy on grass alone, because that's what it evolved to eat, but if humans want to eliminate meat from the diet, then they have to pay special attention to their choice of plant foods. Not that it can't be done in a healthy way; certainly, people on this forum have proven it can be. However, it does take extra effort, because it is not the diet which is natural for us.

Hunters would say that the effort to hunt for meat puts us in touch with our role in the natural world, while the effort to live on a vegan diet distances us from nature. Before I was a hunter, I already loved the outdoors, but when I went out to watch wildlife, I was merely a spectator. Human over here, nature way over there. When I hunt, whether I succeed in coming home with meat or not, I am a participant in the natural world. Nature here, human here, too.

To anybody who's about to give me a thumbs down: Hey, I'm just answering the question that was asked.

Since I was a child in school & through magazines etc. we were told to eat around 200g lean meat per day. It has Iron & Protein in higher amounts than vegetables. You would have to eat a huge plate of some of them to get the daily amount needed. Of course there is the flavour aspect. People, including me, like meat. It can be fried, boiled, grilled, stewed, skewered, barbecued & roasted with lots of my favourite vegetables, herbs, spices, flavourings, gravies & sauces. Nothing else substitutes for it including vegetable sausages, beans etc. It doesn't have to be unhealthy if you don't eat too much & it has most of the fat removed. Some people don't eat it on principle because they're against the killing of animals. I know with mass production to feed a huge populace, it seems like we're being cruel killing so many animals but if we were primitive, we would be killing our own. Nothing against people who can't accept that. Therefore, there are benefits to health & to our taste buds.

There are no arguments for eating meat because meat is not ours to eat. We have no right eating another animal because it is not a consent based thing but a "I am a humyn I am so stupid I feel like I have power over you so I will make you my slave" based thing.

Plus we weren't really meant to digest meat. Look at our digestive system clearly it would have been much shorter and better designed for the digestion of meat.

Really the only reason to eat meat is if it is from a consenting humyn being.

I myself have been looking up the pros and cons of both meat and veg. diets. Red meats, which include lamb, pork, and beef are High in zinc, which is important for a healthy immune system. They contain more iron than most foods, and are more easily used by the body than iron from other sources. They also are a good source of other vitamins and minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, selenium and b vitamins. Excellent sources of complete proteins. A high-protein diet based on lean red meat has been shown to help weight loss. Chicken, as well as meats like it, is a good source of vitamins and proteins, and is a better low-fat meat to eat. Fish of course is a very good source for these previously stated things as well as Omega-3 Fatty Acids, which can help with heart health. There does seem to be more information out there for a veg. diet. Though it must be said that unless you want to over spend for organic meats the more humane way to go is to eat vegetarian, though I believe that the utmost humane way to go is vegan.

Hm, I'm a vegan so it feels very unnatural to write this (!) but here is what I can think of:

1) There is no denying that meat does contain nutrients
2) Many people like the flavor
3) It can be cheap?
4) More variety at restaurants?

Sorry, that's all I can think of. Good luck with it.

There are no arguments for eating meat.

Humans are designed to eat meat and we need protein and the best protein is found in meat. If we don't hunt, do you know that the population of animals gets out of control and the game wardens litterally go out and flash their lights and kill the deer or whatever other animal and the meat does NOT go to feeding anyone but is discarded. PETA has put out videos of only the very extreme circumstances. Most animals are very well taken care of, especially if they are organic or free range. The animals we consume provide multiple minerals and nutrients that are required by our body and a vegan has to struggle to fulfill these in an unantural way (soy is an inventionfor example, not a natural thing).

Meat contains all the amino acids to make complete protein. Most veggies contain a few of the amino acids that make protein. So you need to eat a wide variety of them to get ALL the amino acids to make up the complete protein your body needs. The non-heme iron in veggies is not absorbed/used nearly as well as the heme iron in meat. Beef, in particular, is a nutrient dense food.
From the link: "Half of the fatty acids in beef are monounsaturated, the same type of fatty acids found in olive oil and championed for their heart-healthy properties. In addition, approximately one-third of the saturated fat in beef is stearic acid. Studies have shown that stearic acid does not raise blood cholesterol levels like other saturated fatty acids do."

It adds new flavours/textures to the meal. The juices off the meat can be made into great sauces. It has a high protein content. The large variety of meats means that you are able to try many new different things. Meat can be great when stuffed with things like sun dried tomatos. (E.g Chicken breast). It contains alot of vitamins and minerals. It can be used for insulation (Fat). And it is good for obtaining the 8 essential amino acids that your body can't make and the only vegetable equivalent is soya beans/ soya products.

Hope this helps :)

Several pros for eating meat:

1. You need iron, beef is a fantastic way to get it.
2. When the Good Lord gave us dominion over the animals, he wanted us to eat meat. It's in every Bible, check it out.
3. NEVER trust a vegan. It's bad policy.
4. Beef, it's what's for dinner. If you can't trust Sam Eliot, we then you cannot trust America.
5. Even Dr. Seuss knew the advantages to Ham, with his Nobel Prize Nominated piece: "Green Eggs and Ham'
6. If you don't eat chicken you make the late, great Colonel Sanders cry. Why would you want to do that?
7. Ever ONCE hear Homer Simpson gurgle and say " NO MEAT?"
Of course not ...it's always 'Pork Chops'...MMMMMMMMM"
8. Ever have a really good steak, I'm talking about a 1 - 2 inch thick T-Bone...sizzling on the grill....I'll be back to finish this answer, I'm going to the meat market...BBL

you want to get Atherosclerosis so you eat more saturated fat from meat so that your liver will create more cholesterol and clog your arteries. great if you don't care about living until your old
