This should help a lot:
"The word 'veganism' denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, including humans and the environment.

In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

Here is a decent list of animal ingredients found in various products including food:

vegan because animals are not property

They don't eat anything that has anything to do with an animal. However, They often seem to forget that half their vegetables are fertilized with the manure of cows getting fattened up in preparation for slaughtering. The only true way to be completely vegan is to grow all your own stuff in your own ground using compost as fertilizer.

To answer you Question:
Vegans do not eat:
MEAT
Example:
Chicken, Cow, Pig, Goats, Fish, ...dogs...
you get the point.
Anything that used to move on its on or had a brain of its own Vegans do that eat.

How ever they do consume:
Milk and Eggs

People that do not eat meat, including milk and eggs are a different kind of people. I like to call
them Super-Vegans
offenseeople think Vegans only eat vegetables, which is a pretty stupid thought, no offence to you people that do not have a brain.

A vegan won't eat any food that has something to do with an animal. To cover the basics, they don't eat and meat, fish, or poultry products. They also don't eat products such as cheese and milk. They will substitute these with plant based alternatives such as tofu and soy milk.

As I understand it, Vegans are at the strict end of vegetarianism. Not only don't they eat meat, they don't eat dairy products or eggs & anything that is produced with animal by products.

they dont eat any meat/poultry/seafood as well as animal byproducts such as milk, cheese, beeswax, honey etc.
