I want to become a vegan. Any tips or meal plans?!

Question: I want to become a vegan. Any tips or meal plans?
I want to be a vegan (mostly raw).

The problem is I don't know any other vegans and finding things to cook is difficult. Can someone give me some meal plans, or websites that will help me out?

Thanks.

In my opinion the best thing you can do is try to stick to as natural, whole products as possible. Stuff like vegetables, beans, whole-grains, fruit, nuts etc.

For each meal make sure you have a portion of fruit or veg, one of protein and one of complex carbs. The combination of these food-groups will stop you getting too hungry. Add in a couple of healthy snacks like nuts and dried fruit and you have a perfectly balanced diet.

Vegan protein sources are things like beans, tofu and nuts. Get complex carbs from potatoes and whole-grains. And use nuts and avocado for "good" fats.

So here would be an example of a day;

Breakfast- Porridge or wholegrain cereal with soya milk and mixed seeds
Snack- Dried fruit
Lunch- Lentil and vegetable soup, wholegrain roll
Snack- Carrot sticks and hummus
Dinner- Bean curry with brown rice, or tofu stir fry with noodles.

Here are some sites which may help,

Good luck.

Usually your local grocery store will have a vegan section. It tends to be pretty small and will probably be in the produce area. But it won't provide you with everything you need. Also in the frozen foods section, you can find MorningStar, Boca, Gardein and many other vegetarian/vegan frozen lunches, dinners, and breakfasts. Be sure to check the label to make sure it is vegan though, because some of them have eggs and milk in it.

If you have any health food stores in your area, like Whole Foods or Chamberlin's, you should definitely go there. They have a larger variety for your dietary needs, including supplements. Good luck and welcome to the club! :)

Vegan

I'm a vegetarian, not vegan. In case you didn't know already, people who are vegan don't eat ANYTHING that comes from animals! That means no cheese, milk, etc. I ? cheese, so I didn't become vegan!

They do sell soy milk (Silk is a good brand), and soy cheese, but I find them a little funny tasting, so I'd recommend trying them before you go full-out vegan. Tofu is also DELICIOUS depending on what you pair it with! Try frying it in a pan with soy sauce. It tastes SO good.

You can also buy veggie burgers, which are inexpensive (depending on the brand) and taste like real meat! Some great veggie burger brands are Morning Star Farms and Boca. They're microwavable, so you can then cut them up w/ketchup or have them on a bun with soy cheese.

Also, Amy's Organics (found in the frozen aisles) is a great brand! They have some great breakfast burrito wraps that are microwavable and great. I like they're spinach & feta cheese microwaveable wraps, and I have one almost everyday for lunch, but if you decide to be vegan- they have cheese in them and you can't eat cheese...but once in a while is OK I guess. Depending on how serious you are.

You can also buy/make vegan lasagna! Stouffer's makes a great microwavable one.

Just a reminder- vegans don't eat eggs, and eggs are the main ingredient in most cakes, cookies and desserts! I don't eat eggs normally, only in things like cake and desserts/etc.

You need to make sure that you keep your protein levels up!!! I lost at least 5 lbs within my first month of vegetarianism. Beans are a great source of protein!

Anyways- good luck! Have fun and welcome to the world of non- meat eaters!! :)

here's a meal plan nothing that is or came from animals just don't go to a mexican restaurant because the only thing they have vegan is beans trust me my sister made that mistake and she only lasted like an hour as a vegan

Don't become one, why would you? Seriously...
