I'm considering on becoming a vegetarian and becoming skinny, will drinking coca cola screw it up? (read more)?!

Question: I'm considering on becoming a vegetarian and becoming skinny, will drinking coca cola screw it up? (read more)?
Okay I want to become a vegetarian so I can lose weight and become skinny, and yes, I don't eat much as it is, I don't eat in school or anything, the only meal I actually eat is dinner.. No junk food or anything, but I know that's extremely unhealthy, and I can't keep going on like this because I'll surely die of it at some point or become very ill in the long run. But because I'm not a vegetarian yet, I have trouble losing the weight I actually have, even though I don't eat. But I know it makes you gain more weight when you try eating something else. So I would like to become a vegetarian and lose weight and become skinny, so when I do this, and yes I have been reading a lot of things on the internet, a lot of it being from people who are vegetarians to, they said it's much more healthier and you become super skinny, but will Coca Cola screw it up and stop me from losing weight? I really have a problem with not drinking coca cola seeing as I have been drinking it so long, by the way I'm not actually THAT fat, alot of people say I'm average, but I wanna be skinny (don't ask why, just accept for that's what I want to be), so yeah I wanna be skinny, so will it screw it up, honest, kind and serious answers please, thanks!

Well, I did see someone advise you to eat 5-6 small meals a day, but that really isn't feasible for a high school student. Plus you have to plan that many meals out, which is annoying. Start with three filling meals a day. Just three, then say on weekends (if you feel so inclined) you can eat more meals. But you really need to eat breakfast.
As for being vegetarian, it's possible to not lose weight if you depend on too many processed foods, cheese, and white carbs for sustenance. The thing to do is lay off the cheese and the Coke. Cutting out both completely will save you a lot of calories, and that alone will help you lose weight.
So instead of white pasta and rice, eat brown rice, whole wheat pastas, quinoa, barley, and millet for good carbs. Try to cook things yourself as much as possible. Homemade food is the healthiest, and then you won't be depending on boxed, canned, and frozen tv dinners.

Yes, coco cola will screw up your diet plan. If your just eating one meal a day but still drinking coke that will ruin it. My advice is stop drinking sugary beverages. Drink tea, water fruit juice (if the juice is clear it not healthy for you it has too much sugar), oh and my favorite water lot and lots of water.

In order to loose weight you have to eat less calories than your body needs about 1200 cal a day it doesnt matter what you eat but the amount of calories. Drinking soda can cause osteoporosis though.

Weight gain/loss/maintenance is expressed by calories consumes vs. calories expended.

Not eating this-or-that has nothing to do with it.

I went from omnivore to VEGAN and I GAINED nearly forty pounds.

Calories are what counts.

yes because the sugar builds up on the bottom of your belly making u appear more fat :( also the acid in the drink will steal calcium making your bones smaller which after 1 soda wouldnt hurt but 1+ a day will

been in this situation

You don't have to be a vegetarian to be skinny. There are Billions of skinny omnivores.

You don't need to become vegetarian to lose weight, but it can be a good start because you have to start cooking from scratch a bit more, which is automatically healthier.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: do not eat just one meal a day! THIS will prevent you from losing weight. Try eating about 6 small meals a day instead. Make sure they are balanced and healthy. This is better because if you don't eat for many hours your body goes into starvation mode and starts storing fat straight away.

I would personally not risk drinking coca cola while trying to change your diet for the better - it is pure rubbish! Honestly, I haven't drunk it for years, it is no good, and eventually you go off it and realise it doesn't even taste good. It also rots your teeth. Cut it out!

A vegetarian diet does not make you skinny. In order to lose weight, you need to eat fewer calories than you burn off during the day, and it's pretty easy to get as many calories as a vegetarian. Potato chips, ice cream, french fries, and chocolate chip cookies are all vegetarian foods. There are many fat vegetarians out there.

Pick the weight you want to be, in pounds, and multiply by 13. That's the number of calories you have to eat per day, on average, to maintain that weight. You'll lose weight quicker on a diet of 1200-1400 calories a day. You should not eat fewer than 1200 calories unless you're under 5 feet tall.

As far as weight loss is concerned, 100 calories of cola is the same as 100 calories of carrots. The cola has no vitamins, fiber, or any redeeming nutritional value, however, so that should not be a major part of your diet. But 2 or 3 colas a week, as long as you count the calories, won't derail you.

One of the reasons you may be having trouble losing weight is that you don't eat breakfast or lunch. You're not giving your body any fuel in the morning, or through the day, so your metabolism shuts down and you become less active. Then at night, you put a lot of fuel in your body, then go to sleep. So your body doesn't burn the fuel, and converts it to fat. You're really better off with a few small meals spaced throughout the day.
