I would like some tips on eating only when i'm hungry and some vegan meal or snack ideas. :)?!

Question: I would like some tips on eating only when i'm hungry and some vegan meal or snack ideas. :)?
I have been a vegan for a while now and it is definitely the best thing i have ever done for myself. i am healthier than i have ever been. I would like some second opinions on my diet and some tips to keep my mind off food since i would like to cut down a bit and lose some extra tummy fat. my usual breakfast is a small serving of oatmeal with soy milk and half of a banana and sometimes a banana almond oatmeal muffin as well. for lunch i eat rice with vegetables. i have a snack around 3 which is usually a fruit shake and for dinner i eat something with a ton of vegetables and some sort of starch like noodles or rice ( im not really much of a bread person) after dinner sometimes i have a little snack like fruit or crackers or something. I am happy with my food and i NEVER starve myself and do my best to stay healthy. i also exercise fairly regularly and have decent abs except the bottom area has a pooch making them harder to see. I have trouble only eating when i am hungry and sometimes find myself eating just out of boredom expesially after dinner. i have managed to help myself connect hunger with eating again but if i could have some tips to help have more self control with eating only when i am hungry that would be great :) please keep your comments positive and don't worry about my healthy i am very healthy and would just like to lose some extra belly fat so i can confidently wear a bikini for the first time when i go on vacation with my boyfriend and his family (his sister who is about my age is extremely thin so it makes me feel self conscious) thank you so much for any tips and meal ideas!

For the most part, your diet seems very healthy :)

The only change I would recommend is replacing some of your carbs with protein. Protein seems to be lacking from the foods you mentioned (the only source I see is the soy milk)

Protein keeps you fuller for longer, gives you more energy to be active, and is essential in losing weight healthily. The body also digests it more quickly than rice and noodles. Especially rice is extremely slow to digest.

Here are some protein foods I enjoy eating (and I am very weight-conscious!)

Low Fat Tofu (you can add to stir fry, or even just heat it up and add some soy sauce)

Other soy products like veggie chicken strips are also great in stir fry.

Low Fat veggie burgers or veggie dogs (Yves is really good- only 50 cal per veggie dog- and I never eat them with bread).

BEANS!! Chick peas, lentils, any kind of bean. My favourite low cal and quick meal is chick pea salad- 2/3 cup chick peas, veggies, and low-fat dressing.

If you replace a couple of your carbs with protein foods, it should make a difference. Since you like soy milk, maybe try to drink an extra glass during the day. (I love heated up soy milk. I get the Vita Soy Vanilla Lite- it's sweet and only 70 cals a cup)

And then you could maybe replace one of your rice and noodle meals with tofu or bean salad.

As for eating out of boredom, I suggest you don't keep many easy to eat snacks around the house. It really doesn't seem like you have a problem with the amount of food you are eating though- seems just right :)

Also, try to go for at least 10 hours without food every night- ie don't eat RIGHT before bed. Give your body some time to process the day's food before breakfast.

Although noodles and rice are healthy, try not to eat them every day and have some other carbs as well- that don't have as many calories and are easier to digest. For example, rice cakes are only around 30 calories per cake. To add protein, you can spread some toffuti or peanut butter. I know these are fattening but just spread lightly. Remember, we do need SOME fat in our diets.

I know how hard it is not to compare yourself to other girls... it can be a life-long struggle.

Good luck!

I snack on pomegranate seeds, grapes, carrots, crackers. I guess it's up to your personal preference.

I really want to try being vegan now!! I don't think I could though lol. It sounds to me like you are doing everything right. What more can you do besides eat healthy and work out? Best of luck!! :]

Swap the banana for some strawberries or lower cal fruit. And fill up on water before each meal. Go for 8 glasses a day, good luck

It would be good if you can cut down the amount of rice intake as it makes you hard to lose weight. Can replace white rice with brown rice with is a better option. For noodles, maybe you want to replace with Bean Vermicelli as some noodles are made of rice & starch. Don't eat the muffin as sugar content is high unless you made it yourself. avoid fruits & vegetables like watermelon, banana & carrot as it contain high sugar too.
Avoid the 5Cs...Crackers, Coke (Coca Cola aka fizzy drink), Cakes, Cream & Cigarette.
For snacks, you can try celery stick, soya bean drink/soup, wholemeal/whole grain bread (avoid white bread), steamed whole corn or frozen corn and add a little salt to enhance the taste. Avoid yorghurt cuz sugar content is high too. Use less sauce like chilli sauce, tomatoes sauce/ketchup, mayonnise, tar tar sauce, etc. Sauce sugar content is high.
Opt for seasoning that is natural, like herb. Rosemary & Pepper goes well with chicken. Cinnamon, Star Arnise, Pine Nuts, etc.
Hopes this is not too much reading. :)

Do something besides eat if you're bored. Start a new hobby. Take up reading. Do some reverse crunches (very good for the lower abs). Go for a walk. Drink a glass of water-sometimes dehydration is perceived as hunger. Air popped popcorn and crudites are the absolute best for low calorie healthy snacks. Keep up the good work and try not to be self conscious-all that matters is that your BF apparently finds your body attractive. Concentrate on having fun instead of focusing on your figure. Health and happiness matter more.

when your about to eat when your not hungry work out instead.
brush your teeth, food tastes bad after so you prob wont still want to eat.
i always chew gum
drink a glass of water if you werent hungry to begin with youll probably be full from drinking the water and wont want food.

Sometimes I have nuts, raisins and fruit for breakfast. There are lots of different varieties of nuts as well. Almonds and Brazil nuts are my favourite. When I'm a little hungry I just have a handful of nuts = healthy fat, protein and calories. Sometimes I grate the nuts on top of a salad too. Also, if I'm about to comfort eat then I just get a glass of water and then I feel full up. You could try green smoothies as well. The more simpler you eat, the better but you can always make it interesting.
