Would you date a non-vegan?!

Question: Would you date a non-vegan?
If you are a vegan, could you ever really be serious about a non-vegan?

Answers:

Well, I'm 33, have been veg'n since I was 15, and have only ever dated one veg'n, so obviously yes. :) Ideally, the person I ultimately end up with would be vegan, but you can't control who you fall in love with...

As far as being "serious about a non-vegan", of course I could. My best and longest relationships have been with omnis. Whether someone is vegan or not is only a small part of who they are. I've met a lot of vegans who are complete asshats. Being vegan doesn't automatically make someone "dateable" to me.

Of course, I even married a non-vegan.

Then again, I am a non-vegan myself, so maybe that's not what you're after.

However, I would be skeptical about seriously dating a vegan. I would certainly be willing to give it a shot and see where it goes, but based upon vegans I have met, I have doubts that it would work out well.

She isn't likely to be too thrilled with my hunting and fishing trips, or with me cooking and keeping meat in the house. I would also probably be too concerned about offending her somehow and always wonder if she is judging me for not believing as she does, and that's just a relationship killer no matter the reason.

I am a vegan, and I am serious about a non-vegan. We live together already, so it's good practice for later on down the road if we get married. I'm not a super fanatic, and I really don't cook his meat, so I'm happy enough. Although, lately he seems to be wanting chocolate chip cookies. I found a vegan version online though, so I'll make it for him while he's working and let him believe that there are eggs and milk in it. If they turn out well, at least. =D Hopefully. They are his favorite kind of cookie, and I hope to make him a version that I can eat too. >=D

You sound doubtful, question-asker. If it's someone you love, why should it matter? Should you dump a really good guy just because he eats something you don't approve of now and then? And anyway, if you do all the cooking, he'll rarely get to eat meat at home unless he makes it or you do. You'll probably slowly convert him to your way of eating, intentionally or unintentionally. He'll live longer with you too.

Vegan who really loves her meat-eater anyway.

It's tricky for me. In theory I would say yes, but at the same time I feel like it's something so important to me that it could become an issue. I have dated non-veg but nothing serious. What I definitely wouldn't date is anyone that likes to hunt or mistreats animals in any way. I'd highly prefer a fellow veg, but at the very least he needs to be sympathetic to my beliefs. That's a deal breaker.

Yes, I met him and fell in love before I turned vegan. It would be nice but very hard to find some cute and nice vegan guy considering that I know 0 vegans personally. Plus I love my fiance regardless...I know he has a big heart and animal cruelty upsets him as well. Change is not so easy for some but when we get married...I bet he'll eat plenty of vegan meals. He already does sometimes when we eat out together.

I couldn't date an anti-vegetarian though.

Yeah, I would and I have before...I can't be that picky. I love animals and all, but I want to have a relationship in my life too; it's hard to find many vegan guys who aren't, well, girly...no offense intended as I'm sure there's many who aren't.

However, I don't see myself ever dating a hunter who just hunts for the "prized possessions."

Vegan

If I were a vegan, and since vegans are so obsessed with food and every freaking ingredient, and food being so vital to life, celebration, and times together, it would be utterly impossible to date a non-vegan.

I'm Vegetarian and my boyfriend of 5 years and very much so a meat eater.
I don't mind
I cook what he likes and what I like.
We're both happy

Nope.

No.

Just my personal preference..
