that's a hard question to answer, as it's mainly a matter of preference. Hard boiled egg vs al dente pasta? Soft boiled egg vs al dente? You need more info for the question.

An egg is like 5-8 minutes depending on if you want it soft or hard.

Pasta varies a lot - quicker boiling pasta (thinner and softer) needs as little as 6-8 minutes, but some pastas can easily take atleast twice as long as that.

Generally I'd say an egg is faster - but its close - and it can vary as I say depending on the product you use.

That totally depends on:
do you mean "COOKS faster?"
what type of pasta? Angel hair cooks in 4 minutes or less while some denser pastas will take upwards of 10 minutes.
When I hard boil eggs I simply put them in a pot, put the burner on high and bring to a rolling boil. I turn it down to medium for a couple of minutes- then turn off completely. And cover until the water cools.

I don't know how time works in your universe but a 3 MINUTE egg will obviously cook faster than an 8 MINUTE boxed pasta or a 6 MINUTE egg will cook longer than the 3 MINUTES it takes to cook freshly made pasta.

Like asking which takes longer, a 30 minute cartoon or a two hour movie.

Eggs. You don't even have to boil them. You just put them in a boiling pot of water and cover with the heat off. It makes perfect eggs all of the time.

Eggs nor pasta boils. Water boils and cooks them both.

eggs
