Hi Cupcake, eating meat has nothing to do with weight gain or loss. In order to lose weight you need to reduce the amount of calories you eat. Calories are the important thing to focus on here. Exercise is also a crucial part of losing weight. Although dieting alone will create weight loss, at some point you won't see much more success without exercise. Running, walking, or dancing are great cardio workouts you can do for as little as 30 minutes a day to help.

The best thing you can do to lose weight is to cut out "junk food" and liquid calories, like pop/soda. If you're hungry you should eat something substantial rather than crackers or similar snacks to fill you up. Breakfast is very important, so don't skip it. Just make sure you're eating about 2 pieces of fruit, 3 different vegetables, 5 protein sources, and 6 + grains.

If you truly want to go vegetarian, just make sure you do some research on the kinds of foods to use in your diet. You can be an unhealthy vegetarian by eating things without vitamins or other nutrients. So be healthy with whatever you choose.

Becoming a vegetarian doesn't necessarily guarantee weight loss. It's all about moderation of whatever you decide to include in your diet.
When you call yourself a vegetarian, that's giving up all meat, not just chicken and steak (poultry, beef, pork, game and seafood).
If your goal is weight loss, you might want to just consider moderation of whatever you're eating. Limiting junk foods, sodas and desserts (such as cake) is a good way to start.
Meats provide a lot of protein, which your body needs, especially when you're as young as yourself, but they can be replaced by foods like; cheese, beans, eggs, nuts and seeds.
The goal is to just have a balanced diet with good exercise and you'll lost weight. Talk to your parents/guardians and see if they are okay with your choice to be a vegetarian and ask if they can help you prepare meatless meals and see if they can think of ways to supplement your diet.
By the way, this post is very random with no punctuation, and it's a little difficult to understand. Also, being thirteen is not a good excuse as to why you can't spell vegetarian, sorry.

It's pretty easy, really. You just have to educate yourself about the diet.
Going vegetarian can be good for your health, but it's not a guarantee for weight-loss. In fact, many vegetarians actually GAIN weight in the beginning because they don't replace their foods properly. Vegetarians can still eat potato chips, ice cream, cookies, ect..
But it sounds like you're on the right path if you're avoiding fast food and pop. As long as you receive about 6-8 vegetables/fruits a day, drink nothing but water or green tea, and avoid eating too many processed foods/bad carbohydrates then you should do great.
Try following the vegetarian food pyramid as a guide: http://www.vegetariannutrition.org/food-…

Hi Cupcake123, Being vegetarian is a lot more than giving up meat. You have to make sure that you are getting a balanced diet and that takes time and effort. Here is a site that will give you some ideas to begin with. I hope this helps, all the best. Rab

I am a Chef and the above site.

it depends what you eat when you are a vegetarian.

vegetarians can eat french fries and pizza and cookies.

or vegetarians can eat salads and fresh fruit and fresh veggies.

you have to decide to eat healthy, because vegetarians can still eat all the same kinds of junk food.

Good for you :)
Vegetarians rule.
And there are many reasons why people become vegetarians,
i guess loosing weight would be one too.
And the weight you loose depends on how much vegetables you eat and how many times you work out a day/week.

you need to be committed to the lifestyle, or it's not for you. There are too many temptations, so you need to have a reason to resist. You will not loose weight, and you might even gain some! People on protein diets loose more weight than those who eat a vegetarian diet.

Becoming a vegetarian/vegan won't automatically mean you will lose weight. Some people gain weight if they're not careful with their diet... I did.. lol. But I didn't go vegetarian for my health, or to lose weight so it didn't matter too much to me.

There is no set amount of weight someone will lose in any given situation. You do not need to become a vegetarian to lose weight. You just need to eat less calories than you burn.

It's "vegetarian".

Weight loss, gain, and maintenance is expressed by:

calories consumed versus calories expended.

Not eating this-or-that doesn't matter.
