New vegetarian weird symptoms? ?!

Question: New vegetarian weird symptoms? ?
Hi :) so I'm 24 and I started being a vegetarian a little more than a week ago but this pass 3-4 days I have have had only things like vegetables, rice, eggs, grains, potatoes, etc well I've been having diarrhea at times not always and my belly hurts and makes lots of sounds most of the time so I wanted to ask if this was normal? And if it's gonna be like this for the time my body gets used to not eating meat? Also should I take a multivitamin pill? I don't want to be dependant of pills : / thanks :)

Your body is getting used to having more fiber. Your diet sounds good though. Add a little more protein, it will "slow" you down a little bit. Eat a handful of nuts before a meal (if you don't want to change your actual meal times).

This sounds totally normal. Enjoy the lifestyle.

Vegetarian for 2.5 years......& going strong!!

Yup, it sounds normal.
When I used to eat meat and other fatty/greasy/junky foods, I was very constipated--I just never knew it! Then when I started eating more plant foods (and plants = fiber) suddenly I was becoming more gassy, and my lower stomach started making strange sounds, and I was "going" twice a day. It was so different than my old, every-other-day bowel movements, that I told my doctor. He said that a healthy person should aim for three small bowel movements a day (I was shocked!) and that my "symptoms" were a sign of health.

After two weeks my gas settled down and the noises stopped, but I'm still regular and feeling a lot lighter and happier!

vegan

Food allergies! You have to pay attention to what you are eating. My daughter has a problem with broccoli, and she will have horrible side effects whenever she eats it. My sister cannot eat tomatoes, or she will have horrible stomach aches. You could also be suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. Cut back on your food selections, and make a food diary. Pay attention to the response your body has to certain foods and stay away from those that cause problems. The more raw the food, the more response your body will have to allergic side effects.

That's totally normal :) I went from eating meat overnight to vegan and the same thing happened. Eventually everything will settle down and your digestion will never hurt like it did trying to process meat again. However, be wary that your "business" will always be a bit softer than it was on a meat diet and you will have to go more often, but its not something to worry about. Youll get used to eat. Your diet sounds good though!

Your probley eating more vegetables than usual. Meaning more fiber, meaning better diet, meaning better digestion.

I'm a veggy too

Same thing happened to me when I went vegetarian.. It lasted for a week, then after that it stopped. :) Good luck.

That really could be anything & obviously a visit to a doctor would help best nail it.
The list of things coming into my head are ranging from food-allergies, adaption to what you are eating, eating too much of a specific vegetable or spice that may just upset your stomach, just got unlucky & caught something from not preparing your food. etc etc etc

we aren't doctors or qualified to assess only offer advice based on experience & really that could be anything.
As for pills, read up on it. Many vegetarians might just take a multi-vitamin pill every 2nd day or so to make sure they are definiteyl covering their needs (PS R.D.As are false, getting 100% doesn't mean whatsoever you are at optimum levels of nutrition).
There is no harm in it, but they are often advised to be eaten with meals & not to be a main supply of your nutrition as our body uses synergy on alot of nutrition.
