Strange question here; Is a rhinoplasty vegan?!

Question: Strange question here; Is a rhinoplasty vegan?
Would you consider rhinoplasty or other cosmetic surgery to be vegan? Why or why not?

Answers:

Being vegan isn't about being a martyr, it's about doing all you can to minimise your personal contribution to animal suffering; risking or sacrificing your health or your life isn't part of being a vegan!

And if someone desperately wants to change their appearance because they hate what they see in the mirror, then I think they have every right to do what they want. And the right to do what they NEED to do to make themselves happy again, whether that be plastic surgery or seeing a therapist or eliminating beauty magazines from their lives.

There are so many things we can't control that have animal products in them. It's literally impossible to avoid them all. In my personal opinion, you can help the cause of veganism by purchasing things marketed to vegans and by not buying non-vegan things. It effects the supply and demand and makes companies wiggle a bit when they lose customers because of the whole "green revolution". Look at how many companies are slapping "Natural", "Organic", "No High Fructose Corn Syrup", etc. on stuff now. It's all about money.

But you aren't going to see much of a change happening in practices with cosmetic surgery because you simply don't get any done. If vegans want something different in the medical fields, they need to be the loud preachy activist type that stands outside a hospital or whatever and holds up signs and gets signatures on petitions. I'm certainly not going to do that, but I say "good for you" for the vegans who do. When there are 100% vegan medical options advertised and available I will be among the first to support it.

But until then, vegan or not, if I want a nose job because I hate the way I look, I'm gonna get it. Besides, it's not like the "vegan police" are gonna come take your title away.

Vegan

Interesting question- I am a vegan, and I would have to break it down. Many medications, are in fact not vegan. Medical procedures are often tested on animals before being performed on humans- lots of trial and error. In the case of medical necessity, I don't believe there is anything wrong with receiving appropriate medical treatment. However, elective cosmetic surgery- such as in the case of a rhinoplasty- is a different story. I personally would not consider it vegan, because it is not a necessity.

Rhinopaste is not vegan XD
