Vegetarian..................?!
Is it true that being vegetarian makes you have health problems and a shorter life span? Even if it does, i don't care. i will NEVER eat meat, and if it means i will have to have a short life span, so be it.
PS- I dont eat fish either

The only way vegans can live their lifestyle is because they have money to buy food from their local Mega Mart fully stocked with all the food they need. MANY people in the world DON'T have this luxury. They HAVE to eat anything they can just to survive. I see that you believe eating meat is bad. I assure you given the situation (eat meat or die) you would eat meat. Its easy to say you wouldn't while sitting in your comfy heated house with a refrigerator mom and dad keep stocked for you. But if you were put in the situation Many people in the world are in today you would eat anything just to survive.
And no, if done right a vegan diet is very healthy. Just try not to be one of those vegans that blames everything on meat and condemns everyone that eats it.
I'm veg too and I don't eat fish either I'm turning into a vegan slowly i think as i find it disgusting eating things from another organism or taking away a lambs arm from it. I'm only 15, I feel fine.
This can help you more vegetarians in a way are much more healthy.

Anytime essential acids and proteins are eliminated from a diet, vegan or carne, the person will have physiological problems.
So just make sure that your diet has all essential acids and proteins and you will do fine. Take supplements to supply the ones you need, but can't get from veggies.
No. You have a better chance off living longer on a vegetarian diet.
Being a vegetarian doesnt cause you to have health problems.
Vegetarians and vegans dont need to take supplements either as some people claim.
Yes it is true that vegetarians have heath problems. I admire you not eating meat, its a good life choice, but just go to the extra mile to take care of yourself. eat lots of protein, and vitamins.
You'll be fine as long as you get all the vitamins, minerals and protein you need to be healthy. Of course you don't eat fish....that would make you a non-vegetarian.
Being a vegetarian or Vegan is MUCH healthier! The biggest thing is make sure you eat enough nuts and other protein rich foods. Being vegan makes this easier as you can easily replace all dairy with soy or almond milk which both have a lot of protein in them. Make sure you get ones that are fortified with calcium to though because i have heard that vegans have more changes of bone problems...but calcium from cow milk is actually really bad for arthritis anyway so just use nut milks and you will be fine.
As far as life spans, look at the longest living man ever,Methuselaha, who lived over 900 years as a vegan (before the flood everyone was vegan and lived longer and perfectly healthy).
To prove veganism is much better, here are some facts:
Increased risk of breast cancer for women who eat meat daily compared to less than once a week: 3.8 times
For women who eat eggs daily compared to once a week: 2.8 times
For women who eat butter and cheese 2-4 times a week: 3.25 times
Increased risk of fatal ovarian cancer for women who eat eggs 3 or more times a week vs. less than once a week: 3 times
Increased risk of fatal prostate cancer for men who consume meat, cheese, eggs and milk daily vs. sparingly or not at all: 3.6 times
Average U.S. man's risk of death from heart attack: 50 percent
Risk of average U.S. man who eats no meat: 15 percent
Risk of average U.S. man who eats no meat, dairy or eggs: 4 percent
Amount you reduce risk of heart attack if you reduce consumption of meat, dairy and eggs by 10 percent: 9 percent
Amount you reduce risk of heart attack if you reduce consumption by 50 percent: 45 percent
Amount you reduce risk if you eliminate meat, dairy and eggs from your diet: 90 percent
Average cholesterol level of people eating meat-centered-diet: 210 mg/dl
Chance of dying from heart disease if you are male and your blood cholesterol level is 210 mg/dl: greater than 50 percent
Cow's milk is the number one allergic food in this country. It has been well documented as a cause in diarrhea, cramps, bloating, gas, gastrointestinal bleeding, iron-deficiency anemia, skin rashes, atherosclerosis, and acne. It is the primary cause of recurrent ear infections in children. It has also been linked to insulin dependent diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, infertility, and leukemia.
Here is just some of the evidence to show that veganism is in fact healthier:)
I have been vegan for eight years, started at age 14, and have no health problems because of it. If the diet is done properly you will be very healthy. I am in perfect health and have not had dairy, meat of any kind, or eggs for the past 8 years. I take a multivitamin and B12 vitamin and just eat a varied vegan diet. My doctors tell me my diet is very healthy. I disgaree that vegans and vegetarians have shorter lifespans in fact the opposite is true. I researched this for a paper and found that a vegan diet reduces the risk for all types of cancers and other diseases and since we eat no cholesterol and a pretty low fat/good fats diet it is pretty healthy. As long as your diet is varied and you get the proper nutrients you will probably outlive everyone! I would say do some research on your own so you have all the facts. People like to say a lot of things but those people are usually the ones without the facts. As long as you know what you are doing you will be fine. I am 8 years in, perfectly healthy, and would never turn back. For me it's about the animals and I will never eat any animal products.
Also, I would like to say to "Deer Hunter" that I have been vegan for 8 years and have no money and still eat a perfectly healthy diet. Instead of trying to blame vegans for preaching their lifestyle why don't you stop assuming things :)
I've yet to see one legitimate study showing a shortened life-span for vegetarians on a healthy balanced diet.
Any person who does not fulfill their nutritional needs throughout life will have health problems later in life... this includes both those on vegetarian/vegan diets and those including animal products.
For me, however, I have found my vegan diet to be incredibly healthy, nutritionally sound, and fulfilling. I'm 24 now, and have been a vegan since age 10. I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant and have not had *any* of the "normal" pregnancy issues with pains, nutritional deficiency (i.e. anemia, etc... all of my bloodwork has been spot-on), or otherwise. For me and my body, my vegan diet supplies all of the necessary nutrients and building blocks for my body to function at its prime, as well as to provide all of the necessary materials to grow another human being.
Anecdotal evidence, and a handful of studies showing diet over long periods of time has actually shown well-planned vegetarian and vegan diets to prevent many of the major late-in-life health problems that have become "normal" (such as osteoporosis, cancers, and even dementia - though I will admit that the data is on somewhat shaky ground for the last), and have shown an average additional lifespan of 5-10 years (this data largely corresponds with the lesser percentages of vegetarians and vegans developing cancers, etc. later in life).
Almost any diet can be performed well, promoting good health, or poorly, promoting poor health and shortened life.
Why bother? You will never make a difference. 99% of the world could be vegetarian and animals would still be brutally slaughtered. It all seems extremely futile to me. My personal belief (Satanism) says that if you want to do something - do it! So, why should I be restricted?
