Question: First year being a veggie and i dont no what to eat at chrsitmas!help?
Answers:

In my family we always have lasagna for the big get togethers. A veggie lasagna for non-meat eaters and a traditional one for those who do eat meat. A big garden salad, some bread sticks and a wonderful dessert. Who could ask for more?

Eat the non-meat sides (watch out for roast potatoes as sometimes they're cooked in animal fat). Put somethin like a quorn fillet (fake chicken) or veggie sausages in oven and theyll take ten mins. Or you could put in a ready made veggie lasagne if there is room in the oven

Depending on who is cooking (ie your mum?) do offer to help if you want a veggie main though as its not fair to expect someone to manage a full roast dinner plus vegetarian food for you!!

I run into this question all the time with different holidays, what I always do is just eat the sides.

For example this past thanksgiving, all I ate were mashed potatoes, yams, brussel sprouts, and apple pie. The point of the holiday is not the food, it's the togetherness, so just eat what you want to and what looks good, and you'll still get the full effect of the holiday

First ask them to make the sides with vegetable broth for the ones that use meat broth. This will allow you a lot more things. It won't change the tastes of the sides.

Next eat what you like. I'm serious. If you like something and make something to eat, make that for your main. It doesn't have to be 'Christmas'. It just has to be good. If you want something special, take a look at the Vegweb link as suggested. it has a lot of great ideas. Things like stuffed squash are easy. Just remember to make a dish special for you. One year we had Buddha's Jewels by Moosewood because that is what we wanted. And you could make enough for a main dish for you and a side dish for everyone else so you don't have to worry about single serving recipes.

You can always experiment with seitan. It's a protein source derived from wheat. So its a meat substitute.

You can buy it as a flour, probably called "wheat gluten flour" in bulk at health food stores cheaply. Or you can make it yourself(however it is very time consuming).

Also check out; http://www.vegweb.com
There are many delicious recipes listed there, especially for the holidays. There are seitan recipes listed there as well. Good luck!

I like the Tofurkey roast and this year I am trying Gardein stuffed turkeys. Also, I make a lot of the traditional sides and just veganize them. If you are vegetarian then you can try a meat substitute and most sides you can already have. If you are vegan, like me, just make substitutions to make the dishes you want only vegan. You can search online for recipes. vegweb.com has recipes and I usually just do a yahoo search to find vegan recipes. There is also a celebration roast, I forget who makes it, you might like that. Maybe you could check out a store that carries meat substitutes. I like Whole Foods and get all my holiday food there. Good luck!

I've yet to meet a family that did not include non-meat side items in their holiday meals. Why not simply stick to those items?

eat anything that is not the flesh of an animal. Isn't that what veggies do?

Eat anything that isn't meat.

they all ways have quan meats

corn peas
