If everyone became a vegan wouldn't meat animals become extinct?!

Question: If everyone became a vegan wouldn't meat animals become extinct?
Who would raise hogs, chickens and beef cattle for nothing? What good is a pig or chicken or cow if you do not use its meat or eggs or milk or hide? Wouldn't these animals soon die off? How would animal rights activists feel about that?

Some people would probably keep them as pets. For example, a lot of people keep rabbits and guinea pigs as pets, even though they are traditionally food animals, and people keep horses even though they don't "need" them anymore for farm work or transportation. I imagine breeding and showing farm animals would continue to be a hobby for people, even if the animals aren't slaughtered in the end.

Actually, pigs escape and became wild boars within a few generations. We bred it out of them, but the genes would snap back to that in a hurry as the species' survival would depend on it. The biggest problem is that there'd be a huge die-off of animals first, which damages the ecosystem temporarily because of larger populations of certain animals and then a drop for them too, due to having many cow carcasses and then losing them quickly.

No they would not become extinct. First of all, they would be able to get use to being in the wild. There are not many predators left in the USA that can bring down a cow easily. Just as deer still strive fine in the wild with predators, so would cows. We also have wild boars that survive and so would pigs. Wild turkeys and cows and even certain types of pigs still exist in places in the world too. I have met domestic turkeys, and when they are afraid they do not run and suffocate themselves as you say, maybe some but not most. Wild turkeys live perfectly fine in the wild though and domestic ones released with them could learn how to survive. Chickens do perfectly fine on their own as well. I as well as many other people, have chickens as pets. They are amazing creatures and would do fine in the wild.

For the most part though, these animals would become like other wild animals. They would be in zoos and would live perfectly fine in the wild if we would just let them be.

The old arguement, right well we can only speak in hypothetical terms of course but evidence of domesticated animals that have survived in the wild & our theory of ''survival of the fittest'' + study of instincts show that species would survive & adapt, variation exists in every animal.
You can argue that cows are useless in the wild, look at say india & for another example cows are guarded by an alpha bull. Many countries don't have bears & wolves will not f*ck with a bull a lot of the time.
You already show how knowledgable you are on the subject with your domesticated turkey example, that is instinct you are telling of them huddling & running.

What animals have you seen around your house that would mass exterminate cows? Cause the biggest wild animals I have seen around here are dogs and cats. Is the american lion not extinct as is currently thought?

Example: cats are domesticated animals, they do not need humans for anything. your reasoning and generalities are flawed. your argument makes no sense at all.

No. First of all, that would not happen. I personally could never be a vegan. Then the animals would either adapt to being wild again, and people would still keep a couple around in zoos. Also our world is better off without cows anyway, they produce so much methane that they are responible for a very large percent of global warming and carbon in the air.

Me? :)

"What good is a pig or chicken or cow if you do not use its meat or eggs or milk or hide?"

You're evidently someone who views sentient creatures as only having value if they can be USED by humans.

Nothing I say will make sense to you.

Including that
species do not have ethical interests.
Individuals do.

What good is a cat that lives in the city I mean they don't provide anything and dogs that are not used for hunting or gaurding. Pigs can be used to sniff out truffles especially in Europe and have been used to save people and cows can continue giving milk(I'm not vegan) chickens can be pets and we can all be healthy and happy

if everyone was vegan .. all these animals will eventually become wild . but yet serve no purpose.

Edit: domestic animals can survive in the wild .. their natural instincts will kick in.
i don't think any animal would fukc with a cow tbh .. have you seen how they can react if you piss one of them off?

If every 1 became vegan, it would mean that factory farms would go out of business... cows, pigs & chickens would still be around.

No, animals existed before humans. No one eats humans, we didn't die off. Just the outrageously un-natural amount of factory farmed creatures will drop to a normal level.

Feral animals are descended from domestic animals, they survive okay. You obviously know nothing about this subject

They're animals. They'd eventually adapt.

they would live in the wild?
and people would still raise them on farms?
lots of people have those animals and don't plan on eating them.

Tons of them would die but I think people would still raise them. Maybe as pets or something lol? I would save the cows!! :P

im guessing theyd rather become extinct than to be slaughtered for an eternity and eaten by us

No,because they still reproduce in the wild :)
hope i helped x

They'd be better of dead than raised to suffer.

They would survive in the wild...

We would raise them and they wouldn't be scared if us but here in the u.s. People would kill a dog if they didn't have meat but how can they kill a dog idk in china they kill those animals but you know people ate differnt but if they didn't kill animals they would be over poupulatted :)
