Question: Vitamin b12(a necessary nutrient)can only be found in animal products, especially liver, so, does this mean I?
Should just eat meat sparingly(maybe have calfs liver once a week) and eat eggs?

Answers:

That's a myth that vitamin B12 can only be found in animal products. The meat industry started that myth out of fear of losing customers and put doubts in those wanting to become vegan or vegetarian. In fact, many meaneaters suffer a B12 deficiency because the amount in animal products is poor.
B12 can be found in seaweed, soybeans, and nutritional yeast. It's also fortified in many vegan food products.

Vegan

pretty much. In India, there is epidemic problems with vitamin B12 deficiency. Although there are some plant derived B12 sources, they are rare. Best, if you want to ignore meat as a source, is a B12 tablet. Also note, B12 is re-used by the body, and can remain in the body for up to 30 years!

I'm a chemist

You can buy a bottle of B12 pills at pretty much any store than sells vitamins. It costs as low as $5 for a bottle that will last for a year or more. You need very little B12 and don't even need it every single day (your body stores it) so it's very easy and cheap to get with supplements.

Red Star Nutritional Yeast. B12 fortified. You can also buy it at Walmart or other stores in the vitamin section. The link is all about it and how much you really need. It tells you good sources in it too.

Fortified foods, yoghurts, cereals, breads
eggs, dairy, (probably) milk.
Supplements

There is already a strong range of foods with b12

You can get B12 from eggs and dairy if you eat them.
I'm a vegan so I get mine from fortified soy milk and cereal. I also take a supplement a couple of times a week just to be on the safe side.

Vegetarians and vegans can easily find other sources of b12. Most soy milks have some b12 added into it, so a couple glasses of soy milk a day would do it. Our you could always take a supplement.

B12 is readily available in many fortified foods, actually.

not found in plant foods =/= only found in animal products

You are talking about eating calves liver and eggs in the vegetarian/vegan section????

Not only found in meat, try again

Two words: soy milk

I am b12 defiencent because I do not eat alot of meat not cause im vegetarian just cause I don't eat much period.. You could try b12 supplements or vitamins.. Which i tried but my stomach wouldn't absorb it so i was still defienct so I bought sublingual pills which dissolve under the tongue and I take one a day and my b12 is fine and i take iron along with that.. but yeah u should have some kind of meat daily.
