What would you do if you and your PET were stranded on a small island....?!

Question: What would you do if you and your PET were stranded on a small island....?
This island has no vegetation of any kind... it is just sand...

You will spend 20 days on the island before you are rescued...

BQ: What is your pets name?

Answers:

I'd be more worried about dehydration and exposure, honestly. Either of those would kill me faster than starvation. I think I could make it 20 days without eating, but my cat (Puddy Gato) wouldn't be able to.

I would go out and catch fish or gather shellfish to feed him. I would stick with the seaweed as much as I could (the fish have to be eating something!), but if that weren't enough, I'd probably eat whatever I could and hope it didn't make me ill. I have never in my life enjoyed sea critters.

I wouldn't eat my cat. In addition to me finding the idea depressing, carnivores usually aren't as good to eat, and I don't know that eating a dead cat is particularly safe, especially if I have no means of cooking it.

A much more interesting question - can you describe the possible circumstances in which a human being and a cat/ dog/ guinea pig/ rabbit/ hamster would come to be stranded on a small island together? Are you familiar with quarantine regulations?

Can you further explain how the human would know that rescue was to arrive in 20 days? Seems to me if the rescuers have the technology to communicate that to someone on a desert island, they would have to know the location and would therefore be able to get there almost immediately.

Hypotheticals are always silly, and never more so than when they are intended as a 'gotcha!'.

That aside, if a someone was stranded on a desert island and had to make their peace with eating flesh, they would almost certainly resort to catching fish rather than eating the loved pet with whom they had been inexplicably stranded.

1) Create fresh water source (insanely easy to do on an island).

2) Scour beach for wash-up of debris/etc. for fire and wash-up of seaweeds (majority of which are very nutritionally dense).

3) 20 days isn't long. A human can indeed fast for that amount of time without dying, so long as they have adequate water. It's my dog I'd be more concerned with. If I had the tools necessary to devise some fishing equipment, I'd be in the water doing that as well.

My dog's name is Leia. :) She's a sweetheart. And no, I'd never eat her (as your question is obviously trying to suggest I'd resort to).

Vegan since age 10.

I'd probably die if I didn't last 20 days. Although the average human usually can last about a month without food. Plus I'm a few pounds overweight so my body would eat the extra fat I have before I started to actually starve.
So 20 days? I think I could survive.
My dog's name is Oliver. What does my pet have to do with it?

Well I guess id die.

Even if I was desperate enough to eat my cat (is that what your tryng to suggest?) I dont know how to start a fire anyways, i would have no way to skin and cook it. and even if i did know how to do those things my cats not meaty enough to keep me alive for 20 days.

So yea, id die.

My kitties name is Lolita.

i'd realize how lucky i am to have my dog and cat with me. i wouldn't be alone. although, they'll be hungry like i am and i didn't want them to go thru that. if they ended up there of course it has to be a human fault. or maybe those two may get all homicidal for being so hungry and one of 'em will kill the other to eat it.

I would not eat my pet, if that's what you're trying to get out of people.

If the water surrounding the island was fresh water, I'd be all set--I'd drink water and fast. If it were salt water, I'd create a solar still (http://pad2.whstatic.com/images/4/4d/Str… ).

Well if there's no vegetation of any kind then we'd probably sunburn to death since there'd be no trees for shade before we starved to death.

Vegan

Feed my pet water for now until we are rescued =(

BQ: I have too many pets just to name one but their names are Charley, Sammy, Buster and Libby haha

I'd wade out into the ocean in hopes of finding edible aquatic plants and some fish for Hercules (my cat.) I'd spend more time looking for a source of fresh water.

Find a way to get fresh water.
My kitty would keep me from being too lonely.

Her name is Muddy (I named her when I was 7)

Really....this question has been asked soooo many times, its boring now.

Lay down and wait to die.

eating your pet is so WRONG!

are you for real I guess I would die while you ate your pet yuck sucks to be you

I have no pet, so I guess I'll have to start praying.

I'd...do the only thing I could do. Wait.

Do you think 20 days is a long time without food or something?
