Does it annoy you when shoes or other mass produced accessories say ''veggie leather''?!

Question: Does it annoy you when shoes or other mass produced accessories say ''veggie leather''?
They don't actually mention what the exact material is,and I would like to know if the boots are pvc or PU fake leather, since pvc is just as harmful to the environment as real leather is.

Answers:

I've never seen the term "veggie leather" on shoe/clothing tags. I have seen things that call out that they're "100% vegan" or something of that nature, but they also list the materials used, like say canvas upper, man-made or rubber sole, etc. Often they'll just say "man-made materials" in which case it's usually pvc or perhaps poly-suede or something like that. Usually if it's cotton or hemp or something it will specifically say that. You can definitely tell the difference between pvc and other more eco-friendly materials that are made to look like leather though, so I'm not quite sure what you're getting so riled up about.

I have never seen "veggie leather" before, haha. If I did see that, it would probably make me mad. I like when it is just listen what materials were used in the making of my clothing.

You can usually see what the mock-leather is made of, or you can email the company who made it asking what variety of mock-leather are in their products.

the labels refer to material that are generally acceptable to vegetarians or vegans because they do not contain or are sourced from slaughter by products. What they are for the environment is not implied nor stated.

Only a narrow minded idiot would think that vegetarianism/veganism automatically means "environmentally friendly" Most scientists, like ecologists, biologists, zoologists etc are not vegetarian nor vegan and they do more for the environment than any group[ of city dwelling vegans and vegetarians combined. In fact despite your sanctimoniousness about the environment, you just contributed to pollution by using your non biodegradable plastic computer, that required coal or fossil fuel generated electricity from your house that contains various non biodegradable products build on land that used to be wild animal habitat. Would not be so bad if you did not come out as if you are Mother Nature herself. But you come out "hating" companies for already providing something for you because you are too lazy to do it yourself and yet you are still whining about something that is so petty and minor inconvenience at worst. Why don't you plant the materials and make those products yourself then?

no....only because i havent seen that label before....but if i did see it yes it would be very annoying! thank you for the insight by the way.....hope you get your answer....

Lol "veggie leather" makes me think of a snack, like "fruit leather." I've actually never seen that label though, but I don't do a lot of shopping (poor).

It's most likely PVC, because they want to be as cheap as possible while still being what they "think" the vegetarian/vegans will buy.
It's all about the all-mighty dollar.

Not everyone goes vegan for the environment.
