Cats can be vegan.
There are plenty of nutritionally-fortified vegan cat food brands out there.

Just like with humans,
IT'S THE NUTRITION THAT MATTERS.
NOT THE SOURCE.

Cats are not vegan by nature.

But isn't that such an irony that a vegan would force any animal to behave in a way it won't if it was not a pet? That a cat "can be vegan" is acceptable argument because it is convenient for them? If such is the case then chickens can be allowed to lay eggs without cages it should be acceptable for vegans to eat eggs. And naturally impregnated cows , with a bull of it's "choice" not by semen filled syringe, produce more milk than it calf needs therefore humans "can" get some of it? After all, it "can be" done as one poster put it. Just love it when two vegans on one question contradict each other and their so called vegan rules.

I don't think cats should be vegan unless it's very slowly introduced to them and they actually like the taste of vegan kibble and wetfood they make. Also, it's important to cook them veggie treats with a certain powdered yeast ingredient (protein fortified).
I tried to see if my cats would be vegan, but they refused and it stressed my tom out. They wouldn't even eat it if that so called 'yummy' sprinkle topping flavor enhancer was put on it.
There are a few successful cat owners who have vegan cats. Ultimately I think it depends on the cat.

Vegan

It does not want to be vegan.

If you are a vegan, the cat is not "your" cat but an animal "companion". In reality both actually mean the same thing but many vegans seem to be stuck up on "rules" (that do not exist) or definitions and labels and other "cool" ( or so they think) stuff they like to add on to their lifestyle to make it more than what it really is.

While dogs can survive on a wheat/rice/veggie/soy kind of diet sort of.
Cats can't be vegan - they are a purely meat based diet animal and cannot adapt to a vegan diet. A cat must maintain a body temp of 120 degrees.
Not only will a cat not eat veggies, they can't survive on them.
Let a cat owner who will feed your cat properly adopt your cat.

Its ingrained in cats to hunt....that is how they have lived forever.

However, a cat can live off vegan cat food. They add taurine to it which is the essential thing the cats need.

Most processed cat foods have taurine added. The food that people buy is just as "unnatural" to a cat as vegan processed food would be.

cats effin love meat since they are obligate carnivores n need taurine from catfood
just feed the cat preferably clover halfnhalf or clover skimmilk on sundays
n lifes abundance dry kibble catfood daily n/or instinctive choice catfood cans daily
always water daily so it lives longer duh haha

cats are carnivores. In a natural setting to survive, the cat must hunt for prey for its protein needs to survival. It would be unnatural for a cat to be a vegan. Didnt they teach you that in elementary school?

I was feeding my cat tuna and the vet told me to stop that it has to much salt and it is hurting his kidneys. He told me to just give him the dry cat food. He is now doing fine.
Those formulas he said are made for cats and that is what he should eat.

Your cat is a carnivore, and represents all the characteristics of a carnivore :P

Cats are pretty much carnivores meaning they normally eat meat in the wild. They would eat vegetables if they were used to it but it's not natural for them...

Because it isn't self-righteous.

It's very unvegan to force a cat to be vegan if it upsets the cat.

Because cats are obligate carnivores.

Cats are natural carnivores.

Get a rabbit

srsly? Cats aren't just not vegan, they are straight carnivores. Feeding them dry food with "whole grains and real vegetables" isn't actually good for them.

cats need meat.

Just like your mom.

No people. Talk to a vet or something. Cats are not omnivores. Its like the vegetarian lion in Futurama. Please stop torturing your animals. Cats are carnivores. For the love of his noodley appendage.

This is ironic, vegans are usually puss1es.

ROFL cats are omnivorous,

Probably because it's, you know, a cat?

cuz he's not a puss y... wait
