When you are sick and don't eat....?!

Question: When you are sick and don't eat....?
At the beginning of this week, I got sick like with the flu or something, and I lost like 3 pounds. I didn't eat much because I was afraid I would puke if I did eat. Did I lose fat or muscle?

PS- I have a lot of muscle because I run everyday and I do a bajillion sit-ups. Thanks for all of your answers!!!!

It's mostly water that you could throw up that will be replaced - you don't say if you ever did throw up. If you are ever sick you should still eat and drink as much as you normally can -depending on the cause it could save your life..

Not eating causes your body to temporarily rely on ESSENTIAL body fats rather than food, which will be replaced when you eat normally. When it gets to muscle, that's extreme starvation and will affect your control of the body..

You'll probably need to recover for a while before running etc.

You're obviously quite fit and athletic and most people will probably worry you are thinking of not eating again to lose weight, from the wording of your question -which may not be the case at all.

I think its just water weight. It depends how long you went without eating.
I also think if you go back to your regular eating habits (since your not
sick anymore) youll be fine(:

It was just water weight. Your whole digestive track was emptied.

What you lost was mostly water weight and colon back-up.

i think u lost ur virginity
