Has PETA gone too far?!
Answers:
Oh my God. Are these people really serious?
Eggs and meat and dairy is not bad for you. They have nutrients that your body needs. It's a personal decision if you want to eat meat or whatever or not. I have grown up on milk and eggs. My parents grew up on it generations and generations back. The only reason people say this now is because as a society we have the ability to say no to food. You don't have to eat anything to get nutrients you can be picky. It's self-righteous bullshit. I promise you if you offered meat, cheese, bread, and milk to a starving person they wouldn't care it came from an animal.
They'd eat.
Btw I used to have a pet chicken I love the little buggers sooo cute(: & ill be eating a chicken burrito tonight(: Yummmmmmmmyyyy :p
I'm angry at the outright stupidity of people who don't respect the fact that they have food available. They're are people HUMAN beings starving but we're worried about the way a chicken dies. Wow. I have no respect for these people.
No PETA has not gone too far. I've read that pamphlet (if I'm thinking of the same one you have) and its all true. If you believe that animals raised on organic farms are treated any better than animals raised on regular ones, I suggest you do some more research.
Btw, animals on organic farms get sent to the same slaughterhouses as all other animals, so their deaths are still painful and torturous.
PETA is right in telling you how unhealthy dairy and eggs are as well. Those things are horrible for your health. And dairy is one of the most unnatural things you can ever put in your body. The dairy and egg industries (and meat) have fundings from the government to spread lies about how healthy these things are, because people in government are connected to them or have investments from politicians. Do some research and find out for your own just how disgustingly bad these things are for your health, the environment, and most of all, the animals.
vegan :D
Peta generally goes to far, however there are many people not associated with PETA who also dislike using the body parts and/or secretions of other animals such as eggs and milk.
People who dont use animal products are called vegans. Every vegan has different reasons for not wanting to ingest these products. For me personally, I find eggs and milk to be really gross and I have no desire to ingest them. The way I see it, I wouldn't drink human breast-milk, so why drink the breast-milk from a completely different species of animal such as a cow or goat? Human breast milk is for human babies, cows milk is for calves. The same idea applies to eggs. I wouldnt eat human menstrual waste product, so why eat a chickens ?
Also, about organic chicken, they are treated the exact same way as "normal" ones, they just arent pumped up with hormones. PETA doesnt support organic animal farming because PETA doesnt support the deplorable conditions of slaughterhouses, nor do they support the death of a sentient being for a persons eating pleasure in any way, regardless of key words like "organic" or "free-range" that hold little meaning yet allows a product to make easier sales.
Mostly they embarrass me, because people assume I, a vegan, am arrogant like Peta. I don't always like their in-your-face tactics, which I think are a turn-off for most people, but when you consider what they're up against, industry and apathy, I can understand their place in the world. I don't know what the brochure you have looks like, but it sounds accurate. As another responder says, organic has *nothing* to do with humane. If you looked into it I am sure you would find parts of the organic meat process that would disturb you.
I find them a good source for facts (which I then double-check) and undercover videos.
I thought the dog video, while very strong, made a valid point. However, it's coming from an organization which I understand euthanizes dogs at the shelters they run. This gets complicated, but they are blaming consumers instead of asking the consumers for help and just saying no to the killing. No-kill shelters do work. Peta is part of the problem they're decrying here. But so is that family.
I mostly think they've gone too far when they stand on public corners and portray mock violence, chickens stabbing Colonel Sanders, etc. Kids see it, and I have a problem with that.

They haven't gone too far talking about dairy and eggs some of the cruelest industries around. Organic meat and animal products are still produced through cruelty, abuse, exploitation and slavery and too say they aren't is lying to yourself and too others. I don't like PETA one bit for various reasons but not because they talk the truth about dairy and eggs and meat and things like that.

This is a great article about the top "free rangers", I saw him speak and it was brilliant.

Is rape, murder, slavery, abuse and stealing a good thing? If it is then yes Organic Free Range Humane Cruelty Free B.S. is fine but if you live in the real world then it is wrong wrong wrong and wrong. Plus even the lackluster do barely anything humane laws that exist are not really enforced even slightly because animal agribusiness is so subsidized and the politicians (local included) get paid off by big industry leaders to look the other way they have no interest in protecting anyone in these facilities.
Vegan because animals are not property, against PETA because they exploit humyns and kill animals.
They make no sense because...you had a presupposition that dairy consumption was good for you?
They've gone too far because they say "bad things" about milk and eggs?
I want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.
PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
"Organic" means meat contains no growth hormones.
Please tell me what those things have to do with one another.
I'm a four year ethical vegan who's on occasion had run-ins with the law rescuing sentient creatures from torturous environments and certain death.
Nothing I say will likely make sense to you.
Honestly, I agree with PETA when it comes to the vegan diet. Dairy products aren't that great for you, according to my past experiences. Give up dairy for just 2 weeks and you'll see some dramatic improvements in your health/appearance. My acne cleared up within 3-4 days, it was flawless. My nails looked stronger, my hair looks healthier, and I lost about 5 pounds.
Society has brainwashed people into believing we NEED eggs and dairy products as we grow up. Humans are the only animal who consumes milk from another animal. We're also the only animal who consumes milk after infancy.
Just so you know, there are billions of chickens in this world because WE breed them and force chickens to undergo excessive pregnancies during their lifetime.
Chickens don't have menstrual cycles DNA, only mammals do. When you eat a chicken egg you are eating chicken food. The shell of an egg is a container to hold a baby chicken, the egg inside the shell is the food for the chick. It has nothing to do with a woman's menstrual cycle. And Billions of people eat eggs/dairy and are VERY healthy.
Being vegan does not require any extra work to get the nutrients you need. It actually requires significantly less work to get the nutrients you need because we are always eating our veggies and our protein. We get more nutrients in one meal than an average omnivore gets in a day. I was an omnivore and I remember eating a fast food burger and picking off the tomato and pulling off most of the lettuce and then eating a meat-lovers pizza and having Cap't Crunch. This would be a day's worth of food with little to no nutrients other than protein. However, now I eat a veggie burger with protein and nutrients with sweet potato fries with nutrients and I have Total cereal with nutrients and Almond Milk with nutrients and will have a vegan casserole full of veggies and beans with protein and nutrients. I work less to get better food and better health. I just have to cook my own food, which is what you should do to improve health and control over what goes in your body.
vegan
Yes, peta is considered an extremist group. I don't consider them as brutal as some people make them look.
But, they tell the truth. It's true about eggs & milk.
PETA made me go vegetarian, I'll be forever grateful to them :)
No they havent. They're only telling the truth. People need to know these things and PETA are telling them.
@ Cougar - You havent a clue what you're talking about. PETA dont release "lab" animals in to the wild.
PETA has always been an organization of whack jobs.
PETA are extremist loonies, this isn't news. Releasing lab animals into the wild, yeah, that's a good idea.
PETA makes their money (and they make $millions every year) by pushing the envelope. That's what they do. They're on the record as "no publicity is bad publicity" so they never consider they've gone too far. The more insulting they can be, the more outrageous and stupid, the more publicity they get. The more their name is in the media, the more donations come into their bank account. You could consider lying and insulting others is PETA's job. And they work hard at it.
Eggs and milk are good for you. Most any doctor will tell you milk is a great source of calcium and eggs are packed full of nutritious vitamins and minerals....including B12 which is NOT available in plants.
I think they have gone so far it is ridiculous. They even have videos like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zlRV5Vee…
simple. PETA is pathetic and stupid and ignorant to life
yes
