Whats the best way to mourn/remember/pay respects to an animal I accidentally ate?!

Question: Whats the best way to mourn/remember/pay respects to an animal I accidentally ate?
I have insomnia & depression among other things, and it has made it so I cannot think clearly. Today at Denny's restaurant I ordered a veggie burger and when my order came , I saw it had mushrooms, swiss cheese, and spinach on it and was mildly concerned it was not the actual veggie burger so I examined it for a few minutes then decided it was not meat and ate it.
I got home and looked online to find the veggie burgers ingredients, Well the veg burger doesn't have those extras, but the Mushroom Swiss cow burger does.
I immediately felt sick and sad and disappointed in myself for not being more careful, and for even eating at a crap place like Denny's in the first place...I usually eat organic, natural- no man made chemicals- and VEGAN!! what am I doing at Denny's??! Well I was pressured into it by my extended family :`(

Anyways I'm still feeling really sad and guilty and bad for the cow....I love it and want to do something to show it I appreciate it and mourn it even though I accidentally ate it...what kind of mini ceremony or memorial thing can I do??

Answers:

im so sorry. ):
please dont feel bad, all of us make mistakes every once in a while. say a prayer for the cow and ask that it can come back as something wonderful in its next life. something better than a cow. light a candle for it. and put a flower near the candle. let the candle burn all day (as long as you are home) and blow it out before you go to sleep. then say your prayer. also make a big vegan/ vegitarian meal, but before you eat it, say something like grace, but a prayer for the cow.
good luck. i hope i was a help. feel better soon. god bless.

These people are so mean...
I'm a vegan too.:) I always feel awful when I accidentally eat something with animal products, but I'm sure it's happened to almost every veg*n, so don't sweat it! I personally would light a candle in honor of the cow, and remember that you've helped a lot of animals. It was unintentional; I understand the feelings, but forgive yourself, I'm sure you're a great person.^__^

umm just forget about it, its so annoying when i c these questions i mean everything we eat was alive, it doesnt matter if its meat or veggie we r taking its life to fuel our own, u think when ppl lived in the wild they were picky about what they ate, no they just ate wateva was available. if u really care so much about what u eat then stop eating

wat i think

If it will make you feel better light a candle and say a prayer, but really u need to accept that in life a choice u think us a good one can sometimes be a bad one - it doesn't make you a bad person u really need to strengthen

18 years veg*n

wow... ignore all of those rude people! I am a vegan and I understand your pain. Just vow to do better next time, the fact that you are even concerned is really great. Keep doing great work! and skip the dennys! and try and get some sleep!

I'm vegan!

By doing something productive

Paying respects to a cow is what the Israelites did when they weren't faithful to God...

Barf it back up and say "Sorry Fellow Creator" and then ask the Dahli Lama If that's OK

Go to India

I would have a moment of silence and maybe say sorry

Take a strong laxative get it out of your body then move on with your life!

Eat another burger and belch loudly to show respect for that tasty animal.

BTW, if you're beating yourself up over eating a burger, then you might want to get yourself some help. What you're doing is much less healthy for you than eating meat, and can cause depression.

The way you're thinking is essentially what a lot of cult members think - they make themselves feel depressed and worthless over imaginary "sins". It's not good for you. Just eat a burger and be happy like everyone else.

Reality

Don't worry, everybody makes mistakes. Mistakes are GOOD for your growth, every mistake, even eating what you didn't mean to. Don't beat yourself up for that.
If you really feel the need to, pray for the cow, and think about the ones you've saved being a vegan. & also check for symptoms, if you haven't eaten meat for a while this could be bad for you.But don't sweat it, keep on living, this isn't such a big deal :) I'm sure the cow will forgive you.
& don't pay attention to people being rude, you may be a lot more sensitive than we think. Give yourself a break :)

@shin sai: no, we vegetarians are stupid and we do not know that spinach is a plant and therefore a living thing.

WOW

But its ok for all the animals that get killed for the fruits and vegetables you eat? Trillions of insects are killed from pesticides every year. Deer, moles, mice, rabbits, turtles, snakes, and many other animals die every year when planting and harvesting fruits and vegetables. Do you get upset and pray for them?

ROFL!!!!!

for real?
ROFL!!!!!

mushrooms, spinach, actually all vegies are living creatures, you know that ,do you?

If it was good, then go get seconds! Let out a couple BIG belches and thank the cook!
