Why can't vegans eat eggs?!

Question: Why can't vegans eat eggs?
I've had chickens, they like to lay eggs. It makes them happy. An unfertilized egg is an inanimate object. They are less alive than a turnip growing in your garden. Why do you think chickens lay unfertilized eggs(full of proteins and other nutrients)? For Easter? Or for a skunk? Who is more important on this earth, skunks or humans? Don't get me wrong. I love animals. I get upset when I see senseless roadkill. I share my garden with the bugs because I don,t want to kill them, they have a purpose in life and so do inanimate eggs.

It just doesn't seem natural to me. I honestly think the reproductive waste of a chicken is just not meant to be eaten by us human.

"The word 'veganism' denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, including humans and the environment.
In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

That should explain why.

Chicken's lay eggs not for you or me or anybody else but themselves. Just like everyone else that makes something they do it for themselves and if they wanted you to take it they would ask you too take it.

Who is more important, NOBODY! We are all equally important however at least the animals aren't exploiting the planet and each other like humyns do.

vegan because animals are not property

We can eat eggs, we have mouths that we can put the eggs into and then chew and swallow the egg, thereby eating the egg. I choose not to because I am allergic to them and also because it is a huge dose of harmful cholesterol. I am vegan for health and because of the disgusting diseases you can get from the unregulated animal products. Remember that salmonella outbreak where almost every store in America was without eggs, didn't affect us.

Vegans CAN eat whatever they choose.
They CHOOSE not to buy or consume any animal products.
Eggs are an animal product.

Chickens lay eggs for the same "reason" women have periods.

Vegans do not support the use of animals as means to human ends,
and this includes a multi-million dollar industry that keeps chickens in horrific conitions as egg-laying machines.

I think we all know the real reason for not eating eggs, I think i can safely say that we all have seen Napoleon dynamite, and how those hens where treated and where they lived. Its not Napoleons fault, he didn't want to treat them like that, but he was thinking of his safety for they do have large talons.

I understand your reasoning, but it would gross me out either way if I tried to eat them, whether or not I knew exactly where those eggs are coming from. I appreciate that you don't kill your insects though, some people are just mindless about killing smaller minds such as ants:)

Vegan

because they cannot eat animal products. milk isn't alive either. a lot of mass farms treat animals poorly and use machines to eat the milk from animals, and they treat chickens bad and stuff

They come from an animal. Vegans can't eat anything that comes from an animal.

Vegans choose not to eat eggs because commercial egg laying hens are in horrible condition.

Because eggs come from an animal and vegans don't eat animal products.

Because they're from an exploited animal. Vegans are against animal exploitation.

It's an animal by-product; vegans do not eat animals or anything they produce (i.e. no dairy)

commercially farmed eggs come from chickens that live in horrible conditions.

Because a lot of us consider an egg to be a fetus.

Vegan

Vegans *can* eat eggs, but they *choose* not to.

cholesterol, hellooooooooo??!!!!?

Vegans eat no animal products.

Milk
Meat
Eggs
Butter
Cheese...............

Vegans can and do eat eggs. Then they say "oops". Then they claim to be morally superior because they didn't MEAN to eat that egg and you're a dastardly person because you ate one on purpose! Shame on you. You just have to learn to play the vegan game. For example, every vegan use a lot of animal slaughter byproducts, but claim to be horrified at the idea of wearing leather or eating meat.
