Answers:

1. why are you vegetarian? Vegan, for ethical, health, and environmental reasons.

2. how long have you been vegetarian? been vegetarian since 1992, vegan since 2000.

3. what do you normally eat? A huge variety of things. I wouldn't even know where to begin with a list. For dinner tonight I had the mango bbq beans, shaved brussels sprouts & scallion corn bread from Appetite For Reduction b/c I've had that book for a few weeks & haven't tried anything from it yet, so I decided today would be a good day to utilize it. :) I think I'm gonna make some soup tomorrow (either pumpkin with dumplings or lentil) & maybe goulash Wed. & then eat leftovers 'til the weekend when I have like three different holiday meals I'm attending/making (making part of one).

4. do people tease you about it? Well, no, because I'm an adult. But when I first went veg'n, I was 15, and I wasn't teased then either. I always had very open minded friends & I don't think anyone outside of my circle of friends really knew except for a few people, and it wasn't an issue, but more of a curiosity to them. So I got the occasional dumb question, and that's about it. Even now I think I probably poke fun more than others do. Like I might have dinner at a friends house & someone will say "Those meatballs (or whatever) were really good." and I'll be like "Yeah, delicious, you'll have to give me the recipe." or something like that when I obviously didn't have any.

1. I love animals, and it bothers me to know that animals that are raised for food have to go through so much suffering. Also, being a vegetarian is part of a lifestyle of nonviolence.

2. I've been a vegetarian for 4.5 years

3. I eat anything that is vegetarian really. People think that being a vegetarian limits your food options, but for me, it has opened up a range of options that I would have never tried before. I have to admit though, one of my favorite things is a soy latte from Starbucks. I also really enjoy hummus, falafel, panang tofu, and all types of Indian food.

4. No, my friends are very accepting. They may make a joke about it at times, but it's all in good fun.

1. I'm a vegetarian because after I ate meat I always just felt gross that I just ate flesh. I also just don't like the idea of eating animals. I figure if I don't have to then I don't want to.

2.I've been a vegetarian for about 2 1/2 years.

3. I usually eat :
-Spaghetti (with home made tomato sauce or pesto)
-Pizza (usually homemade)
-Veggie chicken in sandwhich, wrap, salad, chicken salad ,plain with a sauce or something.
-Veggie ground meat formed into a burger or tacos.
-Salad with lots of good toppings
-Eggplant is one of my favorites (grilled, fried or baked)
-Eggs (scrambeled,fried,etc.)
-Potatoes
-Different veggies
-Hummus
Lots more!

4. No one teases me. Of course there are thos people who think I'm crazy for not eating meat but I don't care. I use to love it so I understand why they love it ..

1. because my religion is strict on not eating any animals even though its not necessary i still choose to be a vegetarian
2. i've been a vegetarian since i was born, nd wanna keep it dat way =]]
3. eating is not a problem cuz my religion got many foods for vegetarians
4. no ppl do not tease me about it, they know the reason nd its up to me, who cares wat they think =D

1. 1 year

2. ethical, environmental, and, like you, meat grosses me out now.

3. breakfast is oatmeal, cereal/granola, tempeh bacon, bagel with peanut butter- I always have some fruit. Lunch/dinner are things like soups, stir-fries, pasta salads, burritos, curries, veggie samosas. Most school nights I just don't have time for a regular dinner, and I just eat several snacks- i.e., trail mix, veggies and dip, baked potato, leftover soup.

4. My mom bothers me about it a lot. She's one of those omnis who has basically said everything on the 'defensive omnivore' bingo card (http://www.flickr.com/photos/smiteme/4170866438/). She's actually quotes that stupid Sarah Palin quote about animals being made out of meat (humans are too!).
Nobody really gets it, but the rest just leave me alone, and my friends are pretty good at accommodating when we go to the beach and whatnot :)

You freak!
Fruits and vegetales were once alive too you know!
the same way you want meat eaters to respect you, you must also have respect for others.
Be careful with your "ideals" to do the right thing. I am pretty sure you have no idea where all the chemicals that are used for your stir fry sauce come from.
Before runing you mouth check your facts.
