Is ground flax seed a good egg substitute for cake?!

Question: Is ground flax seed a good egg substitute for cake?
I use ground flax seed for many of my recipes when it calls for eggs, but never used it in a cake. Have you? What to do you use to substitute eggs?

Have you tried Ener-G egg replacement? I use it in all my cakes. Applesauce is good too sugar free though.

It's great for muffins. It can be a bit gritty, though, so I don't use it in cakes.

For muffins, mix it with water and blend until frothy.

For cakes I use 1/2 cup soy milk and 1/2 cup orange. Right before I put it in the oven I mix in 2 tbsp vinegar. I just made an awesome choc fudge cake with it.

Yeah, the 1 T flax and 3 T water mix per egg works great for cake. It also makes waffles delicious. I don't use anything else for egg. I like the boost of omegas I get from flax. And it's cheap and stores in the fridge well.

Yes. I am not vegitarian or vegan but I use flax inmy baking.

It work well, gives a nice light end product, and lends a little flavor. Nothing major, but a bit of a nutty taste.

Not to mention that even though eggs are cheap flax meal is WAY cheaper.

have you tried apple puree?
