Vegetarians and vegans - Would you say your lifestyle is difficult, time consuming or "a pain"?!

Question: Vegetarians and vegans - Would you say your lifestyle is difficult, time consuming or "a pain"?
I was talking online to a guy eats meat and refuses to believe humans can be healthy without animal products. He also kept saying things like "veganism is time consuming" or "it's a pain to organise". I told him to either try it himself or shut up (in more polite terms than that) because I am vegan and don't find it difficult at all. Anyway, I just wanted to get a consensus on this from other vegans and vegetarians. Do you think a vegan lifestyle is a hassle? I personally have not found that to be the case at all, but what do you think?

It's never a problem for the vegetarian.I have been one for 11 years and it's not even something I have to think about. It's automatic like breathing. It's only a problem for people who FEEL they have to accommodate me when eating out or eating at their house. But even that is unfounded because I Could care less if all I eat is bread or sides anyway. That guy you're talking about obviously made those comments without any real experience to back it up.

A vegetarian diet is very easy to stick to. There's so many mock meats, fruits, vegetables, grains, pasta, cereal, and legumes out there.

What he's saying is actually the opposite.

It is impossible for a human to be healthy on a carnivore diet, because plants have nutrients that are not found in meat(vitamin A, C, D, K, and fiber). That is why people who eat meat are omnivores.

A vegan/vegetarian diet, on the other hand, has all of the nutrients your body needs.

Protein, calcium, zinc, iron, vitamin b12, etc. are all in vegetables, grains, legumes, cereal, and soy milk/rice milk.

Vegetarian

No, I wouldn't...I suppose at first it was difficult, but I became a vegetarian in middle school, and I was a really picky eater, so it was probably more of a pain for the rest of my family.
As an adult, I have found it very easy to be a vegetarian. Honestly, in some ways it's easier than eating meat. If you undercook veggies, they are just a little tougher or crunchier, but if you undercook meat you can get sick.

No. The hardest part is getting started. It's just like learning anything new, things are a little confusing at first and then you start figure things out. Once you find recipes you enjoy, realize that you should always have a snack on hand "just in case" and find some restaurants you like it's not hard at all.

Not at all. Its the perfect lifestyle, at least for me. The only "time consuming" part is at the beginning when you have to learn about all the different ingredients and products to avoid, but once you get the hang of it, its second nature.

vegan :D

Not hard at all for me. It's just difficult for me to get into the kitchen sometimes because I live with kitchen-hogs, and they don't even cook. O_o I have a weird living situation though.

Vegan

I tried being a vegetarian. It was not really difficult as a single person but with a family (that are not all vegetarian), it can be more time consuming. Half the time you need to make two meals.

No, I don't find it difficult, and certainly not time consuming since there aren't as many options to just sit down and pig out all day-which is time consuming.

No, except when I visit my dad. He's not as supportive as my mom.

No i dont. The vegan lifestyle is great.

No, it's not time consuming at all...exactly the same as cooking a non-vegan meal...

I don't think so at all. It's only people who just eat whatever that's in sight that would say that.

Not at all. I very much love this lifestyle actually :)

its not a hassle at all except for when you have to go out to eat at steakhouses..

I tried it for a while (vegan). It is all 3!

I dislike it when veganism is portrayed as restriction. People think it's nothing but a list of No's, but really since becoming a vegan I feel like my life has opened up to so many possibilities. Going shopping for food and ordering out is always an adventure--I try new things all the time that I would have never tried as a meat eater. I like to consider the "difficult" moments--like being hungry out in public or not finding appropriate food--to be challenges to overcome. I swallow my fear of being perceived as weird, man up, and just talk to the waiter about making a special dish for me. I feel like it's made me a more confident individual.
The biggest pain? Being made fun of or being critisized for my choices.
