How to become vegetarian when family doesn't want to?!

Question: How to become vegetarian when family doesn't want to?
I'm a teenager so I still live at home and we eat meat. It wasn't until recently when I watched a movie at school about slaughter houses when I thought about becoming a vegetarian. However, my family is still hooked on meat and do not want to switch so it'll be hard and more money to buy special food for me. What can I do? How do I eat as much meat/poultry as possible?

Answers:

This can be very tricky. Even if the cost of meals doesn't go up much no mother likes you standing over her as she cooks to make sure she doesn't mistakenly use the green bean flavored with bacon spoon in your pot of green beans. =D But as with everything it gets easier. I have always been a picky eater so luckily my mother was never surprised or anger only sometimes concerned. Also I was progressing into a vegetarian from a young age so it wasn't a sudden change.
So make sure its something you really want to do. It's hard at times but well worth it! Once the shock of the movie isn't as fresh and you still want to try it out. Just start slowly. Don't stress your mother out to much :3 If she is understanding and cares about your happiness and you do your part in helping her cook it I am sure it'll be just fine.
Slowly cut out meat. The longer you stick to it the pickier you'll get but, maybe by then you'll be buying and doing it yourself.
(Meaning I can't cook anything on the same stove as someone cooking anything with meat) =3 Good luck!
P.S. Joins us.... Join us :D Kidding do whats best for you!

As for the answer "It tastes good so eat it".. lol Think about that.. idk That is kinda funny to me.

That's no problem. If my brother wanted to become a vegetarian, I would gladly trade my carrots for his steak. You can make the same kind of trades. Go to Aldi and buy a case of cheap canned beans for protein. You don't have to buy special expensive food. You could have macaroni and tomato juice. You could have mashed potatoes and margarine. You could have spaghetti with mushroom tomato sauce. You could have cooked cauliflower with lots of margarine on it. Baked potato with lots of margarine on it. Just remember, another family member will gladly eat your steak.

Stop and think would be good!!

You knew nothing about slaughter before and one movie gave you all the answers please that is pathetic!!

You are well becoming a vegetarian as all they do is force people to change on a subject they themselves know nothing about!!

Why not watch a movie on how to do surgery and apply to the NHS that's how ridiculous it is, you can not get all the facts on ONE MOVIE!!

Humans are omnivores you can not change that but you can change where you source your meat, the state of the meat industry is due to human greed and population rise, soon people realise this the better animals will be!!

Im vegetarian, andd im sort of in the same situation.
If your dead set on being onee, But its hard to be one cause of the situation maybe wait until you move out so you can be one properly. :)
Unless you talk to who you live with and ask if it'd be a problem and stuff, but before you go through the trouble make sure you really want too, and have the willpower too. :)

Do it anyways. It's your body, your mind, and your stomach.
I'm vegetarian, and my parents got used to it after a month or two. Vegetarian products are cheap and healthy.
It won't cost much money. Raw veggies and Boca (veggie burgers, Chik'n Patties, ect.) are not expensive. Each package is about $3 and contains about 6 burgers.
xoxo.
GO VEGGIE! :D

I thought the same when i watched one of these films, then i came to my senses..
i asked myself these questions..
can i survive without mcdonalds burgers?
how about a nice bacon butty?
or sausage mash and gravy?
NOPE theres noway i could do it.
If you manage to do it be very proud of yourself as there isnt many people that could give up meat altogether.

i have the same exact situation, beans, eggs(only vegans don't eat eggs) nuts, granola bars, will all give you protien.

btw i got like veggie corn dogs at trander joes and didn't tell me family and they didn't notice but they thought it tasted good and it wasn't expensive

ask your parents if they can support you becoming a vegetarian, maybe you'll have to compromise and only eat meat occasionally and wait until you move out to become a vegetarian

Just remember, if we weren't meant to eat meat it wouldn't taste to frickin' good.

Eating meat.

Just eat what the rest of your family eats, without the meat, easy,

huh how do u eat as much meat as possible huh?

keeping healthy is more important !!!
