Why don't they adjust BMIs to reflect actual health statistics when it comes to weight and eating?!

Question: Why don't they adjust BMIs to reflect actual health statistics when it comes to weight and eating?
As it has been reported, people in the normal weight BMI have similar risks of sickness and death as those in the early obesity stages, while those considered overweight by current BMI standards are 17 percent healthier. http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20090625/… Isn't it time to adjust BMIs to reflect what a real American's weight should be, not skewed by world weights which include many 3rd world citizens who are regularly suffering from starvation.

Answers:

They need to throw it out all together.
The diagnosis of "obesity" as a disease loses all its meaning when world-class athletes are considered obese,
as well as people like myself who are obese and have perfect cholesterol, heart rate, and glucose levels.
