It's not a taboo, but i once was told not to cook or serve in the same cuisine, seafood (crabs, fish, prawns) with meats. Anyone really know why? (scientifically pls).. :)

Definitely an old wives tale! Surf and Turf is the best cuisine out there!

It is not entirely true. Actually, it is chicken that should not combine with sea food.
This is caused, mainly due to the presence of lowdensity-lipoproteins in chicken and high density lipoprotein in fish. Please note that fish and crabs are different variety from the lipoproteins points of view.

Actually the chemical reaction leads to the formation of mild poison.Since this reaction is mild, it doesnot come to one's notice ordinarily. On the long run this leads to acidity related problems and
and even mild ulcers.

A combination of banana and honey as well yoghurt with fish/crab also have identical problems.
Please note that this kind of mild poisoning goes literally unnoticed.

Why is this in the vegetarian section? It would probably get much more positive feedback in the general Food and Drink categories.

Also, Seafood is a type of meat. A better clarifier would have been "To eat seafood with land mammals" or "To eat fish with cows, chickens, or pigs"

To answer your question, No I know a lot of meat eating friends who enjoy eating fish with steak. It's called "surf-n-turf"

There is no scientific basis for that statement. You are either looking at religious taboos or a tad bit of delusional thinking that got passed on. You might have received a better answer if this was asked in another forum either under science or cooking not specific diets.

I am not a scientist but own a fish market. You were misinformed! They are both proteins. The so called surf and turf is usually shellfish and meat!! You just don't want to cross contaminate anything,

I would ask this under Other-Food and Drink section. Vegetarians do not eat seafood or any other meat.

There are a lot of dishes that combine these. It sounds like an old wives tale.

Good forum to ask in.
