Vegans: what would you do in this case?!

Question: Vegans: what would you do in this case?
If you can only use a certain brand of a certain product, because the other choices would not be as effective or cause adverse effect (for example, they irritate your skin) and then you find out that the product was tested on animals, what would you do? It's the only option that works. Would you still use it?

Answers:

I'd say you use it but petition the company to stop their animal testing while you try to find a product that fits your needs and your beliefs.

For me it really depends. I would ask myself how nescessary the use of the product is. Since you alluded to this product being a skin irritant, I'll assume it's some sort of cosmetic or product for skin--in which case I would say no. I would not use something that harmed animals just to make me look prettier. On the other hand, if I had some condition or skin problem that needed a topical ointment, say, to keep my skin healthy, then I just might consider purchasing that product. Or, in a similar situation, if I really needed a medication perscribed by my doctor, and it was tested on animals, then I would consider using it.

Remember, a Vegan is someone who avoids using animal products or products derived from animals suffering, as much as practically possible. Nobody is perfect, we vegans just like to know that we're trying our hardest.

I wouldn't use it. If it were me I would keep searching for more homeopathic remedies to whatever the malady is. There's always a suitable fix for whatever it is that's not manufactured in a lab or tested on animals. I recommend you visit vegweb.com and ask this same question there. I'm a member of this website and the other people that are on the forum are extremely helpful in guiding you towards a more vegan lifestyle in all senses of the word, including finding animal-free body products. Good Luck!

Hi,
I love animals, and know those poor things go through hell sometimes during testing, so, i would just give up the product. Sometimes you just have to do what's right over one's comfort. You have to decide based on your conscious. However, you would be surprised at what can be in the back of our minds, that we choose to bury for whatever reason, and how emotionally or physically sick it can make us, and we don't even know that's the cause. Go with your heart!

It's very rare that something is the ONLY option. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box. The only time I wouldn't mess with it would be if it was some sort of completely vital medication with no vegan alternative, but to be quite honest I try to avoid pharmaceuticals.

It depends. If I REALLY needed it, my parents would make me take it. And then, (call me whatever you want), I would say a prayer for the poor animal that died for my antibiotic prescription.

Well, if it's medicine or something that I terribly need, then yes. But if it's makeup or something dumb, then no.

It depends. You have to ask yourself- is this a necessity? Do I need this? If not, do not use it. If so, use it

no!
