Do you like / drink Soy milk?!
I'm really trying with the soy.... but it's so thick, and ugh....... But I really don't want to drink milk or consume animal products anymore (I was bored a while ago and watched a lot of documentaries..)
Will the soy taste better after a while... and if you have tips with tofu I'd appreciate it
=) thanks!

I love silk and whole foods soy milks. The rest vary between just alright and nauseating. I remember when I first went vegan 9 years ago I thought any soy milk milk was disgusting though so it might take time for you to develop a taste for it. I felt the same about tofu which I also love now.
Ok tips for tofu. When you're cooking it buy the superfirm so you don't have to firm press or worry about it being soggy. Nothing is worse than soggy tofu! Marinade and spice it like you would former meat dishes and you'll grow to love it, trust me. Tofu is one of my favorite things to eat. Even my husband who still eats meat loves it.
BTW other alternatives to milk for either drinking or baking are hemp, oat, barley, rice, almond, hazelnut, cashew, coconut. Try them out and see what works best for you.
You can give up all meats easily. You can find replacements for them: boca, garden burger, gardein, yves, vege usa, lightlife etc... Or just sticking to tofu/tempeh/seitan. Eggs you can replace with tofu scambles (use firm, don't use the silken tofu except for baking! can also use flax, banana, applesauce in baking to replace eggs). For cheese you can use Tees or Daiya which are the best in my opinion or follow your heart and tofutti which are alright. For mayonaise you can use veganaise or nayonaise.
Vegan.
Try rice milk, almond milk, hemp milk, or oat milk. I prefer rice milk and hemp milk. I use non-dairy milks for cereal and cooking. I never drink a glass by itself.
Is your goal to become vegan for a year? Or just avoid meat and milk? Because there's a lot more involved with veganism than what you mentioned. Veganism is a lifestyle which includes not wearing animal fur, leather, etc. It sounds like you're just interested in trying out the diet side of things. Which would make you more of a pure/strict vegetarian than a vegan. Vegans avoid all animal products: meat, dairy, eggs, gelatin, rennet, lard, chicken/beef broth, carmine, honey, beeswax, silk, leather, fur, skin, wool, pearls, etc. You should look online and do some research. There are tons of great books as well.

Really? Too thick? Soy milk seems watery to me...but I buy 8th Continent as I've heard bad things about Silk, and I can't have any nut milks because of a nut intolerance.
And I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I really just use it for cereal and things like that, because I don't like regular milk at all. It's alright. I think I'd like the vanilla flavored more, but they never have it when we go grocery shopping. So, my advice would be try the flavored. And 8th Continent if you find it too thick, because I don't think 8th Continent is thick at all.
And if you don't drink milk but eat eggs, that would make you a ovo vegetarian.
soy milk just tastes like liquid tofu [i wonder why:)] and my taste buds sort of identify tofu as a *food* and not a *drink* so its strange for me to like drink soy milk.
i MUCH prefer almond milk and i think you would too so try it out. if that doesnt work out you could try rice milk, although its not as nutritious as the first two. there are other products that you could try to find as well but i doubt they are sold in regular grocery stores, could be wrong though:)
I was going to try some, I tasted it, then tried it again. then I put it in two feed bowls one for my dog another for the cat. Neither one would drink it. There are lactose intolerant folks that have found good tasting substitutes for milk. Why would a person stop drinking milk but still use other animal flesh. BTW adults really don't need milk.
I prefer rice and almond milk to soy milk. There's also other nut milks, oat milk, and hemp milk. Coconut milk is the best for desserts. My advice for the tofu is to always remember to press it, and freezing it can really improve the texture.
No I don't. Cow's milk/dairy, soy "milk", almond "milk" rice "milk" etc are not "must" foods anyway so if you don't want them you aren't really losing anything.
that's interesting cause i like soy milk cause it's not as thick as cow's milk (maybe it's just me,lol) but i've never like cow's milk. you should try rice milk cause it's thinner
I love chocolate soy milk. If you don't like soy milk, you can also try rice, hemp, and almond milks.
vegan :D
Almond milk is yummy.
Vegan.
No, but I do like to drink rice "milk" once in a while.
Soy milk....YUCKY!
once i got a bottle, but after just a SIP i threw it in the garbage can!
why to quit drinking milk while you're still using chicken etc?
