Is there anything that could be done about animal cruelty?!

Question: Is there anything that could be done about animal cruelty?
My brother showed me a video about animal slaughter and after 1 minute of it I burst into tears! I LOVE animals and seeing that people torture and kill them makes me wanna rip their heads off. I think they should get arrested for doing this. At least put the animal to sleep!!!!!!!! I am so angry with what they do to animals. I'm only 12 and I am trying hard not to eat any meat. I want to become a vegetarian. Is there anything that could be done for these poor animals? I really want to make a difference in the world and stop this. I realize that we need meat to eat but I think the animals should be killed less painfully. They should be put to sleep! That video was really disturbing. I can't stop thinking about it and I still feel like crying. How come it isn't okay for us to hit our dog but it's okay for people to grind animals into meat?! Please give me a good answer. And tell me what you think of animal slaughter :( :( :'(

Not really since what you think of as cruel majority of the world thinks as necessary. You are young and exactly the kind of person that propagandists target because you really don't know any better. They will show you videos (the most common and accessible form of information nowadays) so they can brain wash you into thinking the way they do and start patronizing the companies that make the products found sponsoring their websites. Look at one post, listing vegetarian food companies, the very companies sponsoring the website where the video was made. Then you get "sympathetic" posters with names like "dairy's scary" who are basically "activists" on the prowl for kids like you so they can convert you into their way of thinking and perhaps use you for some other perverse agenda.

Talk to your parents instead and ask them what to do. They are responsible for you and can help help you with your problems better than anyone else. Adults sweet talking kids have no business speaking to you on a personal level and telling you what to do that is essentially the responsibility of your parents. They are also are something the FBI warns you to stay away from because essentially they are sexual predators looking for kids like you. If any of them email you, go to FBI website and report them.

What you watched is simply animal rights propaganda. The video was edited and staged to upset you so you will give up meat and buy those fake veggie burgers, vegan Tshirts, cookbooks and give your money to them.

Every animal slaughtered for human consumption is handled and killed in the most humane manner possible. It's the law. The United States Department of Agriculture has inspectors in all packing plants to ensure the animals are treated well. On top of that, meat from stressed animals is not as good (valuable) as meat from calm animals. If they abuse the animals, their product is not valuable. Why would a business do that?

Ellie Krieger from the Food Network went through a meat packing plant and actually watched animals being killed. Does she have any reason to lie?

"I just got back from west Texas where I toured a big industrial beef processing plant and I am still in shock by what I witnessed there. But I am not shocked in the way you might expect based on the negative portrayals of the beef industry that seem so rampant in the media. Rather, I am stunned by how humanly the animals were treated and by the detailed attention given to food safety at every stage of the process....."

Hitting your dog is not productive, whilst grinding animals into meat allows us to eat meat and gain nutrition from them.

I don't particularly care for animal slaughter unless they're just being wasteful. We're all living creatures bound by the same laws of nature. If we have the power to be dominant, there is no rule for nor against using it.

If it makes you feel any better, most of these industries do try to kill the animals as quickly and painlessly as possible. Moralities aside, killing them that way means they don't have enough time to panic and tense up, so their meat can remain tender.

Yes, you can volunteer at an animal shelter. You can also buy sneakers, clothes, and belts that are made with synthetic materials instead of leather, fur, and reptile skin. When you get older, you could donate money to the Humane Society and/or PETA.

Little Caesar's and Papa John's makes vegetarian pizza.

Do not buy or use Kraft cheese or Velveeta Cheese. They use animal enzymes in their products that come from calf stomachs.

Buy Horizon cheese or a natural Land O Lakes cheese.

You can find these products at a whole food/health food store or a big chain supermarket like Pathmark, Stop & Shop, Shop Rite, and Foodtown.

Ask your parents if they could help you find these products, if you're not sure.

Have a good day.

You are young and it is good that you are on the right side of this debate. However, unless you are vegan, you won't be able to avoid the killing of animals and their torture. Even vegans can't help killing some animals indirectly by eating vegetables. Insects are also killed by us just by being alive and walking around...

However, there is a lot you can do. Being vegan is the healthiest choice if done correctly and it is the best for the environment and the animals.

Look into it. If you do it, make sure to eat plenty of the important food groups such as beans and nuts, fruits and vegetables.

Well, it isn't a bad thing if you eat meat. A bear sure as hell won't think twice before clawing open a fish or another small mammal. It's how we survive, also, would cows be able to survive in the wild if we let them go? What about chickens? We've kept them locked up for so long that they wouldn't know what to do if we set them free because we've provided all they have needed for centuries. But I do agree 100% on how some people treat even farm animals like if they weren't even a living thing. How they torture them for fun and don't clean their cages (which is waaay to small anyways) D:
