I read "Skinny *****" and want to go vegan. But I'm having trouble giving up chocolate...tips or ?!
After reading this book I decided to give up coffee (I have it on occasion but i don't NEED it every single day anymore) dairy too.
I gave up milk and cheese very easily, because it reminds me of animals and they didn't taste that great after a few days of not having them.
However... my hormones RAGE and i NEED chocolate. i don't want to give up because I can't give up chocolate. does anybody have any tips to give it up. Or, if you don't, do you have any online chocolate favorites that are VEGAN and (hopefully) healthy?

I would first begin by setting a time where you eliminate chocolate completely. If this is an addiction to chocolate you may find it easier to slowly remove chocolate from your diet over a period of time. This would allow you to get used to not eating chocolate, and be able to find replacements. However some people create unending time lines, where they add more time, thus never giving up the addiction. Some people find cold turkey easier, as eating 0 of something is easier, and does not leave the door open for extending time, or quitting "tomorrow".
You also may be simply having cravings for something you enjoy. Some people recommend waiting on satisfying cravings for at least 20 minutes. It is also easier to avoid cravings when they are not in the house. Replace what you crave with alternatives. When I first gave up chocolate and other dairy products(due to allergy), I removed the offending food from the house. If I could not remove it(if it was someone elses snack), I brought alternative sweets, and stores them away from what I could not eat so I was not always looking at things I could not have.
When I do eat chocolate I stick to dark chocolates. Trader Joes has a good dark chocolate. Some dark chocolate brands are vegan by default. I tend to satisfy my sweet cravings with other candy, such as skittles, laffy taffy, etc.
Chocolate is naturally vegan. You don't have to buy milk chocolate, just get dark.
As to your additional details. You weren't clear in your question. You said you wanted to give up chocolate because you were going vegan. You didn't mention anything about addiction. So if people didn't respond to you as such, don't be snotty about it. No one is going to read your mind. But I suppose that's just your hormones raging...
I don't but I couldn't resist the question. I read the book too and i don't remember chocolate was bad. Good for you on giving up coffee. I did, but then have gotten back into it a bit. Its hard, but I feel SO much better when I don't drink it. I hear ya on the addictions thing. Ever drive by the drive up Starbucks in the morning and look at the coffee slaves lined up a block long? I used to be there.
You mean, Milk Chocolate or Candy Bars? Because REAL chocolate has no dairy in it at all. It never has, and never will. So, just look for "dark chocolate" and you'll find that is has ingredients such as: organic free trade: cocoa, coco butter, cane sugar. And that's it. You can even make it at home it's so simple.
That's the book that sent me to Vegetarianism...small world! :D
Dark chocolate's good for you! You can find some Vegan chocolate in Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.
make some hot cocoa
have an oreo, if your desperate(they're vegan)
go to a health store(if you live near one) and look for something vegan and chocolatey
Dark chocolate? (70% and up) Soy/Rice Milk chocolate? Dark Chocolate is more common that chocolate made with non dairy milks, I've only ever see them in Whole Foods.
We can buy vegan chocolate in the UK in most health food shops and supermarkets.
Look for the 'free from' section.
Happy Christmas
Yeah, look in health food stores for possible vegan milk chocolate bars... and a lot of dark chocolate is vegan, just read the ingredients. My mom (who is also vegan) told me that there is a chocolate coconut cluster thing at Target made by Choxie. I've been wanting to try it. It says dark chocolate on it but apparently it's not super chocolately like regular dark chocolate. Also, try Allison's Gourmet (http://www.allisonsgourmet.com/ Really delicious, but kinda pricey) and Vegan Essentials has some vegan chocolate too (http://store.veganessentials.com/chocola…
not all chocolate contains animal products, if your in the UK I'm pretty sure fry's creams (original, mint or orange) are vegan friendly. I'm not vegan but have to watch my lactose intake but was out with a vegan friend one day and she was munching away on it. I also really like Alpro's chocolate soy milk, it's really thick and tasty.
Dark chocolates are also easier to eat less of and some people say that dark chocolate is good for you (anti-oxidants or something). It's easy to find dairy free dark chocolate in the supermarkets but here are some online options including for milk chocolate

as for quitting coffee you could try green tea
google and old vegan classmate
Coffee and chocolate both come from beans. The chocolate is generally processed with milk, but doesn't have to be. As if giving up real food isn't bad enough, giving up coffee is really just terrible. Please reconsider. Tea is a terrible substitute.
