Vegetarian Question!?!


Question: Vegetarian Question!?
Im 15 and a vegetarian. But recently, i havent been eating much protein. Normally i have at least one boca burger a day. The past few weeks, while eating or laying down, i tend to feel nausious. Is it due to the fact that i dont have much protein in my body or am i just getting sick?

Are you having a balanced diet with fruit, vegetables, beans, and grains?

It does sound like you need to get more protein. There are lots of easy fixes besides boca burgers that you can have, and take the opportunity to try new foods. In a pinch, grab some peanut butter when you aren't feeling good. But for the long run, you'll want to find a wide variety of foods you can eat. Some grains, especially quinoa, have a lot of protein.

I'll give you some links to good places to find ideas and recipes. Being vegetarian in and of itself does not guarantee you to be healthy-- you still have to have a healthy, balanced diet.

It will help you tremendously to talk to a dietitian about it. They will tell you everything you need to maintain healthy eating habits and can explain to you better ways and ingredients to get the most out of a meal. I eat meat, but i dont eat a burger everyday like you seem to be doing. My diet varies because i include alot of different foods from different food groups. A dietitian can give you recipes and advice about shopping certain food groups in the store. It would be much more beneficial for you than self research on the internet. I think most "women's centers" have dietitians on hand who help out girls with eating disorders but im sure that they would have a sit down with you for free also cause their mission is to promote healthy eating habits.
