I assume you're talking about a high school cafeteria, right? My advice for you is to not watch your classmates eat. Also, try befriending another vegetarian that has the same lunch schedule as you, then you two can sit together.. that may make lunchtime a better experience for you.

And to muaythaiguy2: humans don't *need* meat in their diet.. to think otherwise (like you do) is ignorant.

Edit: muaythaiguy2, vegetarians don't "only eat vegetables." How ignorant of you to think that..

I understand where you're coming from. Meat and fish does smell bad to me, since I haven't eaten it in years. It smells dead to me.

However, I don't get disgusted at people who eat it.

Do you consume mock meats?

Maybe if you don't eat imitation meats, you aren't used to seeing how meat looks like, and you end up feeling disgusted?

When you go out to eat, go to a donut shop or coffee shop. It's less likely that people will be eating steak or fish at a coffee shop.

Or, go to a park. People usually eat indoors, so the odds of running into the meat would also be less.

Hope this helps.

Just realize that each person has their freedom to eat what they want.
Me being vegetarian, I don't get disturbed unless someone is eating a fatty steak.
You are probably thinking a lot about where it came from, whether you realize it or not, so I suggest either paying less attention to others plates or repeat to yourself that it's a normal way of life people have and that you chose a different path for yourself

:)

Just don't watch them eat meat or don't sit with them when they are eating meat and go do something else but don't tell them the real reason you aren't sitting with them.

Don't lecture them though or ask them not to eat meat around you, that would be the worst thing you could do. It would make you seem self righteous and would not help your cause.

Well, don't look at them eating it. I eat fish but not meat and I don't really mind when people eat meat. It's their own decision. Try to sit as far away from people eating meat if you can, I mean, if you are at a table with all meat-eaters, you're kinda SOL. Just don't look or think about what their eating :)

Well dont watch them eat! Also try to get some non meat eating friends. Doesn't mean you have to kick the other friends to the side.
Also some of the answers to this question are so immature and ignorant. Im pretty sure you wouldnt say that to her face.

It would be rude, but not discriminatory. The world is not set up to accommodate you, you must accommodate the world.

What are you disgusted with, them or the act of eating the food?

Don't watch.

Stop watching other people eat. That's weird.

You'll get over it. No worries.

grow up

I'm a vegetarian too and when ever I see a class mate, my parents or someone stuffing their face with a dead creature that I could have befriended it makes me want to throw up. My advice is to not think about where it came from. Don't picture a chicken screaming in pain as it's beek is melted off or a cow being skinned alive. Picture a happy little pig running through out the fields playing with his pink buddy. Focus on the conversation and your own food and how yummy it is.

Omg is it Christmas eve allready? Merry Christmas to my fellow vegetarians and vegans

Vegetarian for two years.

Look at them and say "ewww, gross!"

Would you like to take a guess at what disgusts me, Princess?

What about the poor vegetables, torn from the ground against their will

Grow up.

Grow up.

you are the one with the problem, so stay home.
