I'm a vegetarian but I just ate fish. HELP?!

Question: I'm a vegetarian but I just ate fish. HELP?
I've been a vegetarian for about 9 months and i haven't had any flesh at all until about an hour ago. My mom was making fish and she made me eat it, I said no but she yelled at me because she thinks I"m crazy for not eating animals, but I ate it to get her to shut up, but I don't know if it still makes me a vegetarian. I don't even know waht to call myself anymore. I feel like a hypocrite. Am I still a vegetarian?

Actually, your mom is the crazy one, not you.

And yes, you're still a vegetarian, since you didn't mean to/want to eat the meat.

Instead of being so damned concerned abut nothing ie "Am I still a vegetarian ?", thank your mother instead, for taking the time to something for her kids.

lol. the anarchist advising you to run to the authorities! Because your mother got mad because you initially refused to eat the food that she labored to cook because you want to be called a name based on "rules" that do not exist. First after they finish giggling and laughing at such silliness, they will tell you "go home kid and eat your fish". And that's the very same anarchist that is just so proud to advertise that he does not believe in authority. Trust me kid, advise from such pathetic hypocrites you don't need or want. But be careful, he might email you regarding his five friends and how they will support you. Think pedophile on the prowl.

Yes, you're still a vegetarian AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT CONSUME FISH EVER AGAIN.

You have to stand strong on your beliefs.

The next time your mother yells at you for not eating meat, tell her she should mind her own business and eat whatever garbage she wants, as long as it doesn't touch your plate.

And if she brings a fish for you to eat, flush it down the toilet until she gets the message.

I know it may seem hard, but if you don't stand up for yourself, you're going to get bossed around by others when you get older.

Vegetarian

no your not a vegetarian any mare sorry , i haven't drank soda in over three years i can proudly say that because i have not drank-en soda in over three years , and because you at fish you can no longer call yourself a vegetarian if you do your lying to yourself and others , one thing you can do though is start again on another note to the first awnser from RAWR fish are animals

Well, forgive yourself. You made it 9 months as a vegetarian, so one time shouldn't make you give up. You could do a project on vegetarian and maybe teach your mom about it someway. You'll soon grow up and be free to eat how you want, but you made it 9 months and that is a great thing.

no worries. it's not like you wanted to do it. and don't ask other people if you're still a vegetarian, just answer it yourself. you don't need other peoples opinions to tell you what you are and what you're not, but in my opinion you are still a vegetarian. :)

15 Sep 2010 ... Please, no mean comments… I'm just wondering. FAQ; Comments(14) ... If you ALSO didn't eat poultry, but still ate fish, you'd be a pescetarian. ... pesc as in fish) because you only eat poultry and fish. Hope this helps.

Don't worry about it...everyone mades lil mistakes...well ur mum is wrong she shudnt have made you..you need to speak to her and explain why u wanna be a vegetarian...see if that helps.

Vegetarian..I have accidentally took meat before

Yes, don't worry about it. Besides you don't have to feel bad, because fish has amazing health benefits.

You're a pescatarian.
Pescatarians do not eat any meat other than seafood meats.

Vegetarian
Used to be Pescatarian

Your mom sounds insane..

And to RAWR!: Were you sleeping in science class? Fish *are* animals.

aww. come on, really.

If you made a mistake, you made a mistake. (Fish is not vegetarian.) Hop back on the wagon. Go in peace and eat meat no more. Be diligent about checking labels. If you find that you keep making more and more "mistakes" (that is to say, you wind up eating meat accidentally-on-purpose), it won't be honest to call yourself a vegetarian. If it's an honest mistake (like, you ask for vegetarian and find a shrimp in the bottom of your bowl), don't freak out because it isn't your fault. It's when you deliberately eat something non-vegetarian that you should re-consider.

I'd suggest that you start cooking for yourself. If your family isn't big on whole grains/eggs/dairy/legumes, you might need to spend some of your allowance on getting veg-friendly protein sources, but that's okay. Your mom can't accuse you of being difficult or creating extra work if you step up to the plate and take control of your food.

If Mom really puts her foot down and insists on you eating fish, then you're stuck as a pescetarian until you get out of the house.

Of course you can still be a vegetarian as long as you don't eat fish anymore.
And not to be rude, but why did you give in to your mom? You have a right to decide what goes inside your body. She cannot force feed you anything. Just remember to stick up for yourself next time :)

There are lots of vegetarians that still eat fish/seafood.

I would go to the hospital very fast. Tell them you ate some food and need HELP!

shove three fingers down your throat and make yourself vomit

Oh, good god. Get over this & yourself. Fish isn't an animal. It's good for you, anyway.

I don't know how your mom made you eat it but if she used violence against you then you should either: a. fight back or b. call Child Protective Services. Nobody can make you do something you have to make that decision in your own mind. If someone physically forces you to do something than you need to stop that from happening in whatever way possible without caving into their demands.

My suggestion in your case is to sit your mom down and explain things to her and if she doesn't get it then be extremely blunt and too the point and explain that you are your own perysn and you will not be forced to do anything and that she needs to bugger off.

I cannot say whether you are vegetarian anymore or not. My guess is you are not going to eat any flesh or slaughter by-products on purpose again but I don't know and I don't know the full details of the story. However I can say this: we all can make mistakes and do things we regret and as long as we learn from those events and never repeat them we can grow and move on.

Good luck confronting your mom and remember you may feel like you are alone but there are tons of vegetarians and vegans out there that have gone through the same sort of B.S. as kids and young adults. Never give up never give in and always strive for something better.

vegan because animals are not property
