Lady gagas meat dress?!
But im wondering what v&v's thought of her meat dress stunt.
Where any of you gaga fans before the incident, but not so much afterwards?
Answers:
Don't like her & don't like her using meat to be more unique
I've seen her interviewed, and she comes across as sweet, likable, and very intelligent. So, I would cut her a lot of slack. The outfit - especially the shoes - looks utterly revolting, anyway. It might turn a lot of people off of meat, though I don't know what her intentions were other than to push the envelope in an especially creative way. I think it's too bad that animals had to suffer and die so that Lady Gaga could look original in the spotlight, but I like her, and I think she'll look back someday when she's older and wiser, and see her meat dress as a phase in her evolution. She's smart enough to consider what the critics are saying, I think.
I read that Lady Gaga wore the meat dress to literally represent being looked at as a "piece of meat"
I gotta give it to her, it took alot of cajoles to put that meat dress on and go to an awards show. She is definetely a performance artist through and through. I admire her dedication to her art.
I have been a vegetarian for five years for ethical reasons, not so much the health reasons and although it made me uncomfortable to see her wearing that, I applaud her creativeness and unique way of getting a point across.
Of course i disagree with it due to it being
1) a waste
2) a fashion stunt which could have been executed without meat
3) my ethics
However i recognise Gaga is quite eccentric & doesn't have to agree with my personal beliefs, i'm pretty sure i recall reading that there was some meaning behind the dress & it wasn't just a fashion statement (never follow celebrities & all that goss).
Yeah i'm somewhat a fan of her i like how she is pushing the boundaries in pop music & not just sitting back with the old formula like the likes of many pop artists, she essentially is ''the beatles'' of pop music in terms of her style & uniqueness. Either ways my personal differences with an artists views is no reason to hate the artist.
eg i think the Gallagher brothers of Oasis are absolute n*bs, however i quite like their music. Similarly i enjoy Ted Nugents music despite him being an advocater of hunter & conservative, both i disagree with.
The two are mutually exclusive

big fan of musics of all sorts
I agree with Matt; it's really no different than wearing a leather dress. As far as the wearer, I never was a fan. They come out with new music artists all the time, how am I supposed to keep up. I don't pay attention to the celebrities unless they're superstars like MJ, Elvis, and maybe Madonna. They all have worn leather items. The Queen of Pop has worn fur around her neck, the King of Pop is in a poster wearing a tanned leather jacket and Elvis favorite breakfast was fried eggs smothered in pepper.
It's just one of those things they don't think about much I guess.
Out of the three of those superstars I mentioned, only one showed compassion toward animals and even he had a zoo in the 80's that was not suitable or nearly big enough for them.
Vegan
I don't try to force my beliefs on other. Sure, I'd like it if more people were vegetarian/vegan. I'd love it in fact. But Lady gaGa isn't and she has her own right to wear a dress made from meat. Really weird, and it probably started to smell pretty soon after she put it on, but her right nonetheless. And I'm not even a fan of Lady GaGa, that applies to anyone in my book.
It was gross. I actually think it is worse than leather, as it is a huge waste. Leather garments can be reused. Meat? Nope. Furthermore, the meat would need to be thrown away. How many hungry people could it have fed? Really, Gaga, not cool.
Although she's strange and I didn't agree with it, that doesn't change the fact that she's talented. I think she's an incredible singer and performer - regardless of the meat dress.
That was not the first time she wore raw meat and it probably won't be the last. Lady GagMe is one of the biggest fake morons we've ever had in the entertainment industry (and there have been some big fake morons).
I didn't know she did a meat dress, but I was pretty grossed out the first time I saw it done about 15-20 years ago (yeah she's as unoriginal as she is vacuous)
I was never a fan of Lady Gaga, I don't like her music. I don't see how her meat dress is any worse then people wearing leather or fur though.
What do you think we think of it?
People killing animals for whimsy is not in any way new.
