Question: How do i "love" to eat vegetables?
my diet is meat-free now. it's been a year
but i still won't eat much vegetables unless they're fried...
how do i become more fond of veggies? any ideas?

Answers:

Instead of frying, try roasting. Roasting vegetables prevents them from becoming bitter (the main reason people don't like vegetables) and brings out their natural sugars.

I like to roast broccoli and asparagus (which is good because they are the best vegetables for you)

Trim broccoli into bite-size pieces. Scatter them in an even layer on a rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with a bit of vegetable oil and season well with salt and pepper (if you like a bit of heat, add some crushed red pepper flakes too). Place in a 375 degree oven for 11 minutes, or until just slightly charred on the tips and still crisp-tender.

You can treat asparagus the same way

Roasting will not deplete the nutritional value of vegetables and even toddlers love roasted asparagus.

If you want, you can drizzle roasted vegetables with a moderate-quality balsamic vinegar and/or sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.



A couple different suggestions:

For quality ingredients, eat in season. This is when produce is in its local harvest time, they are at their peak of flavors, plentiful, and cheap. Related, make sure you know how to pick good produce. You can also grow some foods of your own. You can do the topsy turvy tomatoes or some strawberries on your patio or get a big pot of herbs going in a window. It gives you a little investment in the process, can be very satisfying.

If you are not the most confident in your cooking, you may need a buddy or a class to show you how to prepare things. If they aren't cooked correctly, you may not even know what you really like and dislike, and your food won't be it's best. There are all kind of cookbooks, cooking shows on TV and internet demos on YouTube. Keep learning.

Try different herbs, oils, vinegars, mustards, etc. to make some new dips and dressings.

Try each thing different ways: raw, cooked different ways, alone, with other foods. Try juicing. Try grilling, roasting, broiling, soups, salads, stir fry, foil pack cooking, paper pouches, etc. For your pairings, "what grows together goes together," that is, items in the same season usually go great together. Try mixing your veggies with fruits. Strawberries or raspberries are a great swap for tomatoes in a green salad. Citrus is very common in all kind of dishes too.



You can get something to dip it in that taste good (like hummus or mix together mustard and honey, something like this) and then it will be better. I do it all the time because not only is it taste better but sometimes makes it easier to chew up if it is something kind of dry like a carrot etc.

Yams are actually very good tasting, and spinach, and artichoke, and I love asparagus and I can just eat it plain (cooked) because it is so good -- so keep to try things because you may find some vegetables also that you love.



think about it this way
no one eats a burger raw, they cook it, in oils, dip it insauce etc
its not the burger that tastes good but usually what we woudl eat with it
same with vegetables, you can cook them, or not, but usually dips, sauces, salads, and mixing it up a bit is how you end up liking the taste



it comes naturally with increasing ur state of consciousness.

your body will start producing too much sugar and hormones to compesate for an increased brain frequency. inability to consume anything gross, like soda or meat based food becomes natural.

your body will condition you to regect them because it will start producing them already!. its natural and i pity people who inflict themselves with vegetarianism, it is a completely natural phenomenom.

you should focus on improving your spiritual life all these things will come naturally. dont put the cart before the horse!

usually vegetarianism is usually one of the high marks of spiritual attainment. your body will demand most times only water and you can go on indefinitely without even thinking about food. its a symptom of increase brain activity due to a change in spiritual nature. and not some "save the planet" crap or any of that "mercy and compassion" crap. Jesus himself didnt advocate for vegetarianism he knew too well it was a natural symptom of spiritual attainment.

when the new enlightened spirit starts conditioning the body. it tends to regect animal hormone based in meat becuase even meats carry animalistic hormones which is enimical to ur new spirit nature.

Experience



Depends what kind of vegetables you are eating. I find it hard to "love" celery or bean sprouts but I do enjoy roasted peppers and eggplant. Get a few Italian cookbooks..especially Jeff Smith the Frugal Gourment. They are simple and use lots of vegetables and beans....



Try eating vegetables with some sort of vegan sauce. Or better yet, with hummus. Then slowly use less and less hummus, and you'll start acquiring a taste for different vegetables. That's what I used to do when I was vegetarian.

Just start eating them. Eat all you can and experiment with different ways of cooking and mixing them. try using various spices or make soups with them

eventually you WILL gain a taste for them. you just have to start eating.



you could try adding them to dishes where you won't notice them as much eg - onions, peppers etc in pasta, stir frys. also in different soups. if eating them on their own you could try honey glazing them (honey glazed roasted parsnips are loveeely)



haha omg, try rubarb pie. you would be surprised it is actually really good and yes rubarb is a veggie.



you should have steam vegetables with a side of grilled chicken..its good.



for flavor put ketchup on it and stir it



you dont. just suck it up!
