Is This Tofu Still OK to Eat?!

Question: Is This Tofu Still OK to Eat?
I opened a package of extra firm tofu last Wednesday (about 5 days ago) and have a bit left that I wanted to use up today, but I'm not sure if it's still good. It's been kept in a plastic tupperware container in the fridge, covered with water, and I've been changing the water daily. Should it still be safe to eat today?

Thanks

Typically, your tofu will last 3-7 days opened. You're going to have to do a smell test. If it doesn't smell bad or have mold, I'd go for it. This of course is based on the assumption that your fridge is in good working order and not to warm!

Tofu begins to turn a grayish color and develop a smell when it goes bad. It also tends to feel a bit slimy. If it appears, feels and smells okay, I would say it would be safe to eat.

Probably it is but be careful. One of my friends had the WORST case of food poisoning from tofu and she said that it taste FINE but she was in the hospital over it. I always throw out mine if it is not gone in 3 days.

If you changed water daily and was completely covered in water then it could be just OK.
When tofu goes bad it becomes soft and kinda gooey. You can smell it and if it smells strange you should get rid of it.

I wouldn't. Tofu doesn't last long.
