Vegans: If eating meat is murder, what about your consumption of other sentient beings AKA plants?!

Question: Vegans: If eating meat is murder, what about your consumption of other sentient beings AKA plants?
Answers:

Meat is not murder, meat is food.

I ask them, if you have a cruelty free diet, then what about the abused and exploited children who work in vegetable and fruit farms? Cruelty free for whom?

You are right, just because plants can't express themselves doesn't mean they don't feel pain. It is the fact that they have no brain, central nervous system and specialised nerve endings which means they can't feel pain. They also cannot be sentient as this involves consciousness.

Anyway even if they WERE you would still be failing beyond all recognition because animals that you eat consume plants. So by eating only plants, fewer plants die.

trolls are getting stupider by the minute

Hey, if you can point me to the brain and nervous system of a plant, then please do so.

A plant does not die when you eat a seed ( fruit) off it.
A vegetable does not die when you eat a tuber or stem (the vegetable) from it.

So, your whole thing about murder is pointless here.

Another diddy matter- the ability to feel and percieve ( something that's lost on you) is a privilige of those beings with a brain, nerves, neurons linking out cognition to the environment, and allowing us to "percieve" what we like.

A plant grows toward light- and that is biology at work.
A person can enjoy light, or not, according to his preference. Same for cows with shade, sheep and eating more corn than the next sheep along, and dogs, who all have personaities.

Plants are a product of biology, the same as hair is a product of biology, or a cloud is, or rain, or a mountain.

"feeling" is to do with nerves. You feel a pinch, hot water, pain. ALl to do with the nervous system.
Hair that grows from you, has no nervous system- yet it shows the vitality, colour and nutrtion that went into making it.

Veg and fruit are like hair. No feelings, just a reaction between water, soil and a seed. There are no nerves inside either.

Plants lack a central nervous system.
Even were this not true,
they lack a brain with which to consciously perceive pain.

Outside of trolling here,
I highly doubt you'd consider stabbing a dog vs. a potato to be ethically analogous.

Plants don't have nervous systems and so they do not feel pain. The real question is what about all the animals that are killed while planting, harvesting and shipping the produce that they eat.

You really can't win. This morning, for my daily exercise, I took a long walk on a sentient being, a paved sidewalk. But what could I do? It was either that, or shoot a sentient basketball through a sentient hoop.

Where did you get this idea that plants are sentient?

It's not just that they don't express themselves. They are physiologically incapable of feeling pain or emotion.

Wow, I didn't know plants were sentient! Kindly provide a reputable source for your conclusion :) Look up factory farming. Perhaps animals factory farm too. I've been wrong all along!

Don't feed the troll unless it is hot lead. Report and ignore.

Vegan because animals are not property, gun nut and troll buster

Name a time you saw a plant get slaughtered and showed a sign that it was in pain.

Agreed.
