Why do so many people go through a phase of being Vegetarian and then revert back to eating meat?!
Answers:
the smell of bacon sandwiches!!!
some teenagers do it more as a statement-independence, rebellion etc, and so get bored after a while. others do it for the geniune reasons of animal welfare
Because it is just hard to do at times and you eat a little meat here and little meat there, then you occasionally eat meat, then you figure 'what's the point'. I think people get too hung up on calling themselves vegetarians and feel like they are not if they slip up and eat meat. Meat is not good to eat for many reasons but we live in a society that thinks differently so it's up to everyone to educate each other and not fault someone if it is hard for them to be 100% vegetarian. If everyone reduced eating meat to one day a week, it would change the whole world so be supportive of those that try.
Many people (in particular teenagers) go vegetarian for all the wrong reasons i.e. they think its cool, their friends are doing it, they see it as a "fad". If you don't do it for the right reasons and because you truly want to do it, you won't have the willpower to stick through with it. I went vegetarian when I was 15, because that was what I wanted for myself, not because others were doing it (actually I didn't even know any other vegetarians at the time). I never looked back, only forward.
vegan :D
-It is no longer convenient.
-The statement is no longer necessary/wanted ("I can do whatever I want", "Fight the man, fight meat", etc)
-The diet was not done correctly and they have made themselves sick. (I knew a girl who went veg and ate cereal with toast, a plain salad, and pasta everyday. No beans, she didn't like spinach for iron, etc)
-The inspiration, like a crush on a vegan hottie, is no longer around or worth trying to impress.
-The desire to return to eating meat or rather "eating normal" like their friends.
Etc.

Ton of reasons ranging from fad, to weight, to being cool, rebellious etc etc.
The ones that even do it for animal welfare may go temporarily vegetarian but then slowly go back as they find it easier (not that vegetarianism is hard if you learn to expand your cuisine).
WOrked sort of the opposite with me, people said i wouldn't last so i told them to get f&cked :P
vegetarian
Many people do it because it's cool. Many people believe it will help them lose weight. When they find they don't lose weight, that it's more difficult than they've been told to stay healthy on a veg*n diet and something cooler comes along, they go back to eating meat.
Beat up teenagers all you want, but most of them have good sense.
figures you're not a vegehead.. and teenagers are NOT people...
goodbye... now, report me.
raw vegetarian 43 yrs.
Im 16 and i became veggie when i was 8 (by choice) and Ive never reverted back to eating meat.
whats the point of doing something if your gonna go back on it.
It is a very difficult process to being a vegetarian.
Because NOBODY can resist the tantalizing scent of Bacon when it is freshly cooked.
I guess they are trying to lose some weight and their also need iron proteins from meat too
because they don't do it because they want to but to either be a part of a trend or to rebel against something.
