Whats your opinion on hunting?!

Question: Whats your opinion on hunting?
This is not means as trolling i just want you guys opinion?

Answers:

I personally think vegans need to lighten up on hunting. I can understand how they can dislike it when people go out and buy their meat having no idea where it came from. On the other hand if someone is hunting they are killing the animal themselves. Hunting does not involve all the farming methods that vegans dislike such as confining the animal to a small spaces. Unlike a cow, a deer is going to have a fitting chance of escaping someones plate.
I can understand vegans not encoraging killing animals but they should just except it when people hunt as opposed to buying all their meat.
Edit- the answers that are giving show how immature you vegans really can be. For example "it should be banned" or "murder". Let say their is a herdsman living on the African Savanna, are you going to say he is mean and should go vegan? Not everyone wants to or can give up eating meat and you need to except that. Of all the things, you should be least concerned about hunting. And I agree with you that trophy hunting is wrong but the extremly small percentage of people that are actually hunting for that reason makes it irrelevant.

I personally don't hunt but have been around alot of people that do. It is one of those topics where there will be a lot of difference of opinions. From where I stand I believe if regulated its good for keeping the population of deer and boar in balance because of lack of natural predators in certain areas. There are alot of areas where large cats and wolves no longer help regulate the population and can lead to too many animals and not enough food or the chance of disease spreading because too many in one area. Here in Florida the alligators were almost hunted to extinction but through regulations by the state they have bounced back and now loosened the restrictions on the hunting of them.

I'm a vegetarian but my reasons are for animal cruelty. I could never hunt because I'm fine not eating meat, but I think that it if's for survival it's perfectly fine. When people do something for survival they become a part of nature. You aren't just some 'human', you're an animal.
Though I would rather someone become vegetarian, I think it's okay if people hunt instead of eating from factory farms. It's much less cruel and at the very least the animal got to live a life in the wild where it belongs.
Don't get me wrong-I think hunting for sport is awful! There are many people out there that don't have the right vegetables and fruits to survive so they HAVE to eat meat. Usually those people are the ones that have to hunt for their food. I won't say it's wrong for someone in Africa living in a straw hut to go hunting a gazelle to feed his/her children. We're animals too, and if we have to do something for survival I don't think it's selfish to try to save ourselves.

I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down, but oh well, it's my opinion. Remember everyone-don't generalize. Saying that 'all meat eaters' or 'all vegan's' or 'all vegetarians' makes a person very ignorant.

I am a vegetarian and I'm not a fan of hunting but I prefer that to the ongoing cruelty that factory farming brings.

EDIT - And Norman, I agree with you but there are other parts of the world where it is necessary too, not just North America. There are rural people in Australia and Africa and I'm sure Europe that also hunt for survival and/or cultural practices.

You asked this in the vegetarian/vegan section BTW and I think it's just not necessary (hunting) in this day and age. Even if you live out in the country you can still stock up on groceries if you have a freezer or even a regular fridge and a big pantry.
Unless you're an obligate carnivore you're not going to die without it and as far as I know, the only obligate carnivores aren't human... They sure think they are though, Shhh! ;-)

A small number of rural, poor people in North America need to hunt to feed their families and communities. An even smaller number hunt because it is in the teachings of their culture and part of an almost religious relationship with nature.

The majority of hunters do it for fun and, to answer your question, for them i have no respect. The others, I'm okay with.

I think its discusting. I wouldn't say anything if I had a friend who hunted, or stop being their friend, but I honestly don't understand why they NEED it. They dont, unless they're so poor they can afford an expensive gun and bullets, but for somereason the store food costs too much... even ramen or a bag of chicken nuggets.
I know it fun, but its kind of sick to think killing living creatures is "joyful".

Even though I am vegan, I totally understand hunting. I don't necessarily agree with it - but it is at least "bettter" than getting meat from the grocery store.

Hunting is not cool, it is just a step up from mass murder in slaughterhouses.

If you need to hunt in order to survive, I'm fine with it. If you're doing it for fun, or to eat even though you have plenty of other food - well, I don't understand what on earth is fun about killing.

Hate it. Do not understand the mentality of people who need to hunt and kill for the fun of it. Different if you need to rely on it for your survival.

Murder.

Sentient creatures are not property.
Killing is killing is killing.

Its wrong and should be banned.

Once again, the vegetarians showcase their lack of knowledge on the subject, condemning something they obviously know nothing about.

I think hunting is just fine, so long as seasons and limits are planned carefully to ensure the sustainability of the species. I feel the same way about fishing and trapping.

I hunt for food, and for other reasons that I could explain, but you vegetarians wouldn't be able to comprehend it anyways.

It's really fun. I live where we hunt a lot, but I never went - I thought it was cheaper just to buy the meat. But I did go out twice - with a gun with one up the pipe - it was very exciting. Hunting is one of those instincts we all lived with for 99% of our time here. And what nature wants you to do, she makes it fun.
