Question: Complete protein sources for Vegans?
1 ) There are 20 in total, but 9 are essential. All I have to do is Google foods that are rich in these 9 essential amino acids and then list them down on my food shopping list to buy, right?

2 ) There are so many guide lines for humans to follow for optimal health. An example, RDA, DV% Food Pyramid, Age, Gender, Height, Weight and Physical Activity, so which one should I go by?

If you eat a balanced diet, and consume a variety of whole food, you'll be just fine.

Food sources of the 8 Essential Amino Acids:
Isoleucine - found in nuts, seeds, whole wheat and lentils
Leucine – found in beans, nuts, seeds, lentils, whole wheat and brown rice
Lysine - found in nuts, seeds, green beans, spinach, beans, peas and lentils
Methionine - found in peanuts, seeds, whole grains and lentils
Phenylalanine - found in avocados, lima beans, almonds, peanuts, seeds, soybeans and bananas
Threonine - found in beans, nuts and seeds
Tryptophan – found in bananas, flaxseeds, lentils, soybeans, peanuts, almonds and walnuts
Valine - found in peanuts, seeds, lentils and mushrooms

Seeing a pattern? Beans, nuts, seeds, lentils, whole grains.....



Amaranth, Aphanizomenon flos-aquae[ blue green algae that grows worldwide), buckwheat, hempseed, soybeans, quinoa, and spirulina also are complete protein foods.
