Considering becoming Vegetarian BUT..?!
Answers:
Then refrain from the cooker, as crazy as this sounds I gave my parents a power-point/presentation over being a vegetarian and it worked. I'd give them some long lecture about it and if they don't budge then just do it and don't use this "cooker" you talked about.
Then don't use the cooker. Use the toaster, the MW and other things- tofu doesn'y need cooking, wolewheat pita with banana and hummous doesn't need cooking.
Soup-well, use a long broom handle to stir the pot. If she's gonna be silly about it, so should you be too.
Eat lots of raw veggies and sandwiches. Eat yogurt, tofu, fruits. You don't need a cooker (what do you mean by that? stove? oven?) to eat.
Explain to her why you wanna be a vegetarian.
"GC" has no idea what they are talking about. Animals are not abused? Your completely clueless if you think animals do not get abused in slaughterhouses. I'm 17 and recently became a vegetarian. It was a little easier for me because my family was completely fine with it. However, my mom said her only condition was that I got educated on proper nutrition. I got this great book called "Becoming Vegetarian" heres the link to it from Barnes and Noble : http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-New…
If you get educated and know your stuff you can show your mom that you know the proper ways to get nutrition. I was surprised to learn that meat is basically the worst way to get protein. Not only are you getting protein from meat but your also getting saturated fat and cholesterol. Plus, studies are showing that the average American gets TOO MUCH protein. Earlier generations are completely brainwashed into thinking that you need to drink tons of milk and eat a lot of beef to be healthy. Exact opposite! Plant foods are a way healthier way to get the right amounts of protein, calcium, iron, zinc, etc.
Good luck! If you do your research and your mom still opposes let her know that your old enough to make your own decisions and this is something you feel strongly about. Eventually I'm sure she will understand! Good luck and congrats on wanting to make the switch to vegetarian!
There is no logical reason for your mother to be trying to control you in this way. There is nothing wrong with someone your age being vegetarian, you can be perfectly healthy. Research the matter online so you are very well informed on the issues of slaughtered animals, health & vegetarianism. Be strong and try having a calm chat with her. Ask her why she is against it and explain to her your reasons. If she is still against it afterwards then there is not much you can do about it. Either go on the diet against her permission or give up your morals on the matter until you are older and therefore less easily controlled. It doesn't sound like she knows much about nutrition anyway if she is just feeding you guys meat and potatoes all the time. Best of luck, I hope everything works out for you.
Vegan
You are only 14 and still developing. That is the reason why your mother is against it which I fully agreed with her. Look, the meat we have are mostly farmed animal for the purpose for food, its not wild catch, thus there is no cruelty or abuse to the animal. These animal are ethically handled in farms and factories. If you think you really want to be a vegan, do it after you have pass 18 at least for your health and development sake.
don't do tht silly!
