Answers:

it used to be part of my diet too- milk and cheese.

There are soy cheeses which taste really good, and soy milk, almond milk. It gives you far less acid in your stomach ( less bloating ) and cleaner skin, and healhier to drink- less lactose.
Your dad is not right, you just have to be careful and eat a REALLY good diet.

Eat tofu
peanut butter
almonds/almond butter
soymilk/soycheese/yoghurt
sesame seeds/pumpkinseeds/flax seeds= in bread, in granola, in cereals-
brazil nuts, cashews, walnuts, pine nuts
lentils, fava beans, pinto beans, lima beans white/red/black beans/slppit peas
100% wholegrain bread, pasta, and brown rice
avocaco, coconut, sweet potatoe, yams, pumpkins

eat one item off each line every day, even a little bit- like every day you could have a pasta salad with wholewheat pasta, chickpeas, peanuts, sweet potato chunks, and tofu, with a soy yogurt dressing, for example.
People will onyl get freaked out if you look really pale and pathetic. And that will happen if you don't eat good fresh colourful food .
( By colourful I mean-= look at all the fruit and veg which is green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, red, brown, white, and try eat one or two of each every day)

THen your dad will be fine.

Also research "vegan bodybuilders" and do some homework!

PS you get over the milk cheese thing quickly, soycheese and almond cheese are really good!

as long as you are very careful about your diet, you can do it correctly and be very healthy. the only thing you absolutley cannot get from a plant source is vitamin b12, but you can get it from cow milk, eggs, and dairy. i suggest you just find a brand of milk and cheese that is cruelty free, but otherwise, you can get all the things you need, murder-free. whey protein is also something i suggest you take, if you dont mind the cost.

im a veggie and i want to become a vegan when i hit three years as well. Im on my second year of being a vegetarian. Its seems like it would be really difficult for me though because i love dairy products. I wouldnt consider anyone in my family supportive.

I can't help but say I am on your fathers side.
As you are growing older you will need as much of vitamins etc. as you can possibly get.

Tell your Dad you want to try it for afew days, see you get along.

Ask your Mom to persuade your dad into being a vegan.

I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I've been making efforts to reduce animal products in my life, and one thing I've done that I'm really happy about is that I switched from cow's milk to almond milk. It doesn't help with the cheese thing, but it's another way to at least reduce the dairy in your diet, even if you can't cut it out all the way. I would never be able to go vegan because I love cheese so much.

I think what's important is to try to get any animal products you consume from local/organic places that give their animals a great life. There are some dairy operations where the cows have soft floors and music played for them and everything, because they produce more milk when they're happy. So if you're going to have some dairy in your life, you can try to make sure it's only from animals that are treated humanely.

Good luck!
