To vegetarians...................?!
Lol I found this as a like on facebook...What do you think about it?
Answers:
It's kind of silly.
a.) If you didn't eat cows, we wouldn't produce as many. Fewer cows, fewer farts. Big fat duh there.
b.) Cows eat more plants than I ever could. More cows, fewer plants, more farts. Bug fat duh.
c.) It's a lot more complicated than that.
Plants don't absorb methane. They absorb CO2, and are then replaced by more plants which absorb more CO2, so this is called carbon neutral as there is no net increase in greenhouse gases. However nothing is absorbing methane once it is in the atmosphere, it stays up there for about ten years being twenty times a powerful as CO2 and then is finally broken down... some of it into CO2!!!
So reducing the consumption of meats from ruminants means fewer ruminants which means lower greenhouse gas emissions. At least that's what the scientists are saying.

I think, unless the person who said that on facebook lives entirely off meat and dairy products and they never eat ANY plant foods, they are talking s***.
Also, the more meat you eat, the more meat they breed, to fill the demand. Supply and demand is a basic tenet of capitalist culture.
So in short this person is dumb.
I think it's stupid, and whoever wrote that is severely under educated. It's arrogant to think that all vegetarians are trying to fix the planet. I simply don't like the texture or flavor of meat, and animals have rights. Yeah, I would consider myself "eco-friendly", but my vegetarianism has nothing to do with trying to cure or prevent global warming. Since when were plants the answer to global warming? I've always heard that we need to drive more eco-friendly cars, use less paper, and recycle. It's estimated that 70%-80% of the Earth's supply of oxygen comes from the algae in the ocean. I've never heard of a vegetarian eating ocean algae, or any kind of algae for that matter. The plants consumed by vegetarians have no effect on the amount of clean air surrounding our Earth, or the temperature of the Earth's core. Also, since when do common vegetables provide a large amount of oxygen for our earth? I hope this person realized there are millions of kinds of oxygen producing plants which we do not consume. Thanks for reading my rant :) I've been wanting to get that out since I first read that on Facebook!

those cows produce alot more than methane gas -they produce more than that when consumed by human beings. the cows are mass produced, and are fed hormones, and develop some cancers from the hormones and the pesticides the animal is sprayed with. one can actually contaminate oneself with a cancer cell from the meat of an effect animal.
so, this is what i think so, who's really causing cancer
Um no.
You fund the industries which breed cows by the millions in the first place,
whereas vegetarians do not.
I think the Facebook person is irrational and ignorant of the basic mechanics of economics.
If you stop eating the cows, factory farms will have to stop breeding such massive quantities of them, which will help the atmosphere in the long run.
That was so easy to respond to that it wasn't even fun. Wow.
Cows produce methane gas because they are farmed because people eat them. If people didn't eat them there would be more forests and huge factory farms wouldn't be devastating our world.
I have a functional brain
your right
so be an vegetarian so there will be no one in the world be suffering for food if everyone change themself to vegetarian.....
this is because animals eats a lot of plants to get big there alots of energy was wasted andstill its bad for you
Factories cause way more gas and pollution to the atmosphere than lettuce. We aren't eating trees, we are eating produce like vegetables which is food. There is a difference between a garden and forest.
funy, cos 'you' (as in them) also cause all the methane they produce by having them bred constantly for our 'needs'
so your seeing mildy cleaning your own mess as a positive, when veges are just dealing with things as they are
indeed
It takes more grass and produce more methane. Vegetarian eat less and do not produce so much methane. Vegetarian go through less on cycle of having cows that make methane.
Cows make more methane gas by about 3000%.
Also, it is the rainforests which create the clean air, not small carrot shoots.
The meat eaters cause more damage to the plants then veggies do. It takes so many veggies to raise a cow.
You eat plants too, and the cows you eat eat plants too.
So who's REALLY killing the planet?
